Restaurants with tables too close together- I hate hearing everybody else's life stories.

And I hate the hovering waiter who waits until you have put the first forkful of food in your mouth and then asks 'is the food OK

Bridgwater - Somerset

Bad acoustics - I love my local Indian Restaurant, food, price, service, but if a party or two are in and just all talking and laughing (not being OTT), it echoes off the ceiling and you can't hear yourself think.

The solution - don't go for a cosy romantic meal - go as one of a lively party!

Walked out of Jamie Oliver's Bristol restaurant when they took us through and we squeezed through tightly packed tables final straw was when I opened the menu and bumped elbows with the guy on the next table. When the waiter had to approach sideways and wait for me to close the menu, I said loudly that " you wouldn't treat pigs like this, let alone charge them for an overcrowded trough" and left to a round of applause from the other diners

I once sent a risotto back 3 times in a fancy hotel before the chef came out to ask what my problem was. I told him that risotto is not American Long Grain Rice with fried mushrooms and Carbonara sauce and offered to go into his kitchen and show him how to make it!

My friend does that. She does a reconnaissance of the eatery, if the staff look "suspect", toilets dirty etc she won't eat there.

Carried bottled water to brush her teeth whilst we were away on business: Hilton Arundel!!! Also carried her own pillows, pillow case and towels...she's a nightmare!

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I used to run a restaurant with my parents so can say we are probably the worst customers ever. I hate slow service. I hate being sat down then having to wait for a menu, then having to wait to be asked what drinks we want, then wait and wait for everything. If the restaurant is busy then that's OK but when it's quiet there is no excuse.

Lacklustre food is also bad, especially when it costs a lot. One of the worst meals I had was at a Jamie Olivers restaurant. What sort of Italian restaurant runs out of olives?

Depends on the occasion. If I was out with mates or someone I really got on with. Nothing bother me at all. Even kids screaming because as long as they don't make a mess near me or bump into anyone. They aren't doing me or the people I am with any harm, but the perfect scenario would be for them to be quiet. However when out for some special event and we have gone to a "fancy" restaurant. Then normally its the restaurant that does my head in as they call themselves very good and there's little choice and/or the food is just as nice if not worse than other restaurants, which are far cheaper. The hype of places are normally a major let down in my experience.

I used to own a restaurant with my 1st hubby for 10 yrs.

And the one thing that I HATED most was professional complainers, just to get either a little off their bill or the entire lot.

They would bring bugs in to put in food or add something to make the food taste disgusting... I have loads of stories you have no idea lol...

But in our town all the restaurants had what we called "A black list" So should we have a problem with a certain couple or family, their name would be sent to all eating establishments in the area to be on watch. If they were clever enough to change their name then fair enough.

It wasn't only us but "Taxi'es" had this as well

"Ppl who don't appreciate my kids ability to freely express and enjoy themselves in any environment! Lol"

As long as you appreciate my ability to express my desire for them to sit the fuck down, shut the fuck up and stop being screechy obnoxious little cunts by my table while I'm trying to have a quiet meal in a pub (you know, those places that used to be a haven from kid noise)

Lol

Staff who ignore all paying customers and chat to their mates who come in to scrounge a freebie off them. So the customers are left waiting for ages.

Waiting for food that was ordered before the other tables around you were even seated and when you remind staff you get tutted at then it gets slammed down in front of you with a full on flounce.

Unruly children? Download the 'Mosquito Sound' app and play it in the restaurant. Only the children can hear the annoying noise. Call me petty but.....

1. People smacking their lips when eating.

2. Parents who think its acceptable to let their kids treat it as a play ground.

3. Staff chatting to each other when you order.

4. Staff looking at you as you have two heads when you complain the food is shit.

5. Dirty cutlery.

6. Dirty glasses.

7. The look on staff faces when you don't tip because the service was shit.

Don't mind paying good money for good food, but when it's shit, I will tell them. I'm not after a lot. Good food good service. It's not a lot to ask for.

People having a lovely quiet meal cos their kids are busy playing tig round the tables or, even worse, staring intently at other diners as though they are aliens to be observed!

I really hate it when people at other tables duck when I throw my food at them.

Oh so many things annoy me. But when you get the guest who is super demanding bordering on Rude and you bend over backwards to make them happy and they don't tip or if they do its less than what they should.

"I thought that I've never been out for a meal and seen kids running about, apart from pubs with big gardens and play areas, and then the kids are playing away from everyone anyway.....

"

Me too.

Parents that don't 'parent' their kids irritate me too, but I think the British love of children really shines through in some of the comments.

Family restaurants fine. Yes children can be noisy. But screaming and running around is not acceptable and dangerous when staff are carrying hot meals and drinks around. Children should be taught social behaviour. They won't learn that from being allowed to run amok.

People moaning about my kids bad behaviour.

People that move their table away from mine.

Other customers not wanting to join in my chit chat.

People not letting me try their food!

Just a few things I could mention more.......
