City fans here, it will be a straight fight between us & Chelsea. Moyes will take a couple of years to adapt to a bigger club than Everton, so cant see them in the running.

Chelsea will be better with Jose back but ultimately unless he spends the squad is still ageing.

I think we have the upper hand, but its all making for a very interesting season.

Much as I enjoy the banter between rival fans I can’t accept there is any justifiable reason to call someone “scum” for having an affiliation to a football team….

I feel using terms like "scum" can come over as insulting and inflammatory….

But thats just my opinion though

Its not necessarily calling the person scum, as yes that would be rather insulting, its used more in the "Oh you support the scum" referring more to the actual club, rather than the fan in question

Being one of those strange people who actually supports both Sunderland and Newcastle my observations are based on witnessing the vociferous use of the term by both set of supporters hoping to provoke an aggressive reaction from their rival supporters,,

So I don’t accept its only a term intended to identify a loathing of an entire football club rather than the individuals who follow that side...

This year will be interesting due to the managerial changes at Utd City and Chelsea. North East looks interesting with Newcastle Sunderland and Hull vying for relegation and 'clown of the year' awards.

My money is on Chelsea but I'll only be giving the league a cursory glance as the real contest takes place in the Championship.

I am fully aware of the rivalry between the 'mancs' and the 'reds'..

have seen the outcome when some bloke was slashed at a home game in the mid 70's and that stopped me going for 20 odd yrs tbh..

is there any need for 'scum'..?

I have no doubt Chelsea will take the title, and I suspect they will have it in the bag very early on. Mourinho already has a 61 game unbeaten record at the bridge. Some top signings with schurrle and Willian and also the likes of Ramires Oscar mata and hazard all well settled in.

Utd have too much uncertainty what with the new staff and the roony saga. If rvp was to pick up an early injury their seasons over.

City arsenal and Tottenham will all flounder as per usual. Can see maybe villa or Everton fighting over their usual spots.

3-1 Chelsea tomorrow!

As a Man U fan (choke as I say it) I think it will be between Arsenal and City.

To be fair City looked great today and I don't think anyone has realised how good a signing Ozil is for Arsenal.

Well it won'r be Manure or Chelski they both have 2nd rate managers having downgraded in the summer. Arsenal look good going forward but the defense is shaky nut they are in with a shout. The same with Spurs who look good on paper but striker wise they don't have a top top class striker. Liverpool look solid at times with a good strike force but will be too inconsistent and that leaves Man city and with what they spent this summer they should really win it as you can buy anything ask Roman.

as much as i luffs the arsenal I refuse to say us quite yet.... I luff the first 11 we could put out, but i dont thing squad wise we can compete with man city or chelsea yet.....

who knew the answer to the defensive midfield issue we had was the bloke we let go 3 years ago..... flamini has been immense if only for finally having a shouter who will organise everyone around him......

ozils assist tally is now 4 in 2 games... rambo is scoring for fun

i would still like a central defender and another striker, but we are not "that" far off.....

Not that I give a crap about the premiership ( for now ), as my team are in the proper league, the championship and doing very nicely, thankyou very much, but from what I've seen, it's going to be the closest Prem season for a while. With some January acquisitions ( centre back particularly ), I believe it'll be Arsenals year ( and hotlips as a fan will thank me for that ). Class, stability, players that are put in the team, to fit the team, rather than square pegs in round holes.....Giroud, sharp as a tack in the box, Ramsey, Wilshire, Walcott, Oxlade Chamberlain, Arteta......and the missing ingredient: Ozil. Relegated: Sunderland, Palace and Hull

Arsenal are consistent in their aims and they regularly achieve a top 4 finish so I would expect 4th again for them. The rest well Man City followed by Chelsea and Liverpool with Man Utd the big losers this year.

It will be an open encounter this year. What with fergie stepping down and some of the other managers of the top clubs have been replaced. Before I used to say 2 clubs will be in the race. It was Man United and Arsenal for a while, then Man United and Chelsea, then Man United and Man City. Now I believe Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool or Man United. I can safely say Man United need another 3 midfielders in January. If they want to win the league convincingly.

I bet the fines to the FA were cheaper than the kick backs he gave refs.... having Howard Webb on the payroll could not have been cheap either!
