Yesterday Mum and I went to Pizza Hut and were greeted by a lovely man who was the same age as me. He greeted Mum and I by saying "Hi Girls" to which my response was "I'm a woman"

Do you object to being called a girl/boy if you are an adult!?

I just admit nine times out if ten I hate being called a girl im 45 years old a girl to me is a child grrr but a few times I.let people get away with it

escapes me why its such an issue for some people to be honest

poor manners such as people not thanking u for holding are a door open would grate me much more than being called a boy

americans are usually polite my gf and I were in newyork 10 yrs ago and she was 31.this fella bout 19 said to her "excuse me mam".she would def rather be called a girl than mam that day!

I know it was meant to be an informal greeting, but that was not professional imo.

A "good evening, ladies" would have been more appropriate.

In a close social circle or amongst friends, it's another thing, and don't mind at all

Doesnt bother me have a group of friends we all refer to eachother as the girls not women....im going out with girls seems to come out naturally i refer to the people in work as the girls or the lads...some people nay not like it but i tend never to take offense its a phrase

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest, in the Pizza Hut situation. I'd just assume that he was trying to compliment me by pretending to think I am younger than I am.

It wouldn't be professional in the workplace, however. And if I was buying something 'serious' (like a car or a house) I would find it very patronising to be called a "girl".
