Bradford

(Not looking for sympathy, food banks or other "awwwww" stuff)

Anyone got any suggestions on what to get for the week? I'm getting bored of ready meals. My budget is £1 a day.

Go at tea time for yellow label shopping at Tesco...

Big reductions.

Failing that, veg is cheap, baked potatoes and beans, omlettes with cooked mushrooms... Loads of recipes on web.

Sweet potato wedges cook on 25 mins, chilli dip sauce or mayo... Fresh is best.

Do you have a stock cupboard with herbs, spices, sauces etc already?

if so, I reckon you could do it.

massive bag of pasta

few tins of cheap tinned tomatoes

frozen veggies or even better reduced fresh veggies.

Might not be exciting, but will keep you full and it is reasonably healthy.

porridge oats, can be made up with water,

also, eggs are full of protein and are cheap.

I used to live like that for weeks when I was towards the end of term at university, it is hard, but doable.

ah, freezer n cooker lack are going to make it a bit harder.

ok, couscous, can be done with just a kettle.

don't buy the little packets of flavoured stuff, but a big bulk bag of plain couscous, and flavour it yourself with veggies and stock.

do you have a toaster?

if so, lotf od stuff you can have with toast that can just be heated in microwave.

I know I can do it, been doing it for 9 months. Iceland do ready meals for a quid, I'm just getting a bit bored of them

You could always fall in love, your appetite diminishes somewhat under those circumstances
