I would have thought they do not even need to be sat in front of a PC to do that now, either though a back door with a Microsoft key or by ISP log

"How long before opting in to receive adult content because reason enough to look at your computer history?"

I think people with nothing to hide should have no fear about any part of this new legislation....

It's intention is honourable and the huge numbers involved wont allow for invasive policing in all but the most suspicious circumstances….

I'm taking a more cynical view. I don't look at porn, except this site, let alone on the internet.

How will Google Glass and drones fall into the legislation? Images will just go through direct routes.

Wasn't there a piece a few weeks back that said they were streaming images though FaceTime and the like now to make it harder to be caught. It all seems to little to late. As with most government the knee jerk reaction is always slow in coming

I don't fear being found on here but I might fear being found on the EDL web site. We all have something we'd rather not share with the world.

Have a listen to Privacy Under Pressure on the R4 listen again too.

My cynicism also comes from filming the parents of those poor girls with Cameron in a meeting at number 10. Followed by this announcement.

Opting in to receive adult content on the web rather than opting out.

By default all new accounts in the Uk will have adult content switched.off.

Some phone companies already do this e.g. Orange.

It says absolutely nothing about restrictions to content thereafter

You have to do that on mobile phones anyway.

I had to call my provider to unlock adult content, so I could view fab

Yeah I get that when it comes to others been on your computers, but I'm on about when this new legislation goes through. Will they inform the household for example that some one visits fabswingers?

I use Incognito mode, But that only stops the sites you're viewing from appearing on your browsing and downloads history. I don't think it will take away the restrictions on viewing adult content. I still live with my mother and the internet is in her name so iv'e now somehow got to convince her to lift the restrictions lol

This is one of the stupidest legislations ever !!! For starters it all can all be circumvented simply by using a proxy, Opera browser with turbo mode enabled ( proxy )

Secondly how do they intend to police it ???

I agree that certain types of images should be blocked or removed but in reality this will never happen due to the size of the internet and how easy it is to get round any kind of block.

Pointless waste of tax payers money, ISP's time and causing households and families headache and embarrasment !!

In principle I would support the legislation, but I have strong reservations as to how it would be used.

Because of some of the pics on here (and other swinger sites) I am sure it would be classed as porn, so to use swinger sites we would all have to "opt in"

This poses some serious questions. Would there be a national register of internet users who have opted in? If so, would people from the register be targeted in police "fishing" operations?

Imagine if your home was submitted to a dawn raid and you were carted away for questioning while a forensic team confiscated all your computer gear, just on the off chance that you might have something incriminating, or because that nieghbour or ex g/f-b/f who doesn't like you decides to make mischief, and a quick check of the register shows you as "opted in"

You think it can't happen? Ask Freddie Star, Dave Lee Travis, or Rolf Harris who were all victims of police "fishing" based on spurious allegations.

I fully support protecting kids from on line porn, and real pedophiles should be caught and banged up, but the potential for misuse may outweigh any benefit from this legislation.

I will be more than interested to see how the law will be written and implemented.

Cameron is on Woman's Hour. It's a useless piece of legislative spin. The account holder will have to seek permission to opt in and that will get around clever children. How? Really!?

Crosby deflection on an emotive subject where the majority will say, if you have nothing to fear you won't mind. He's already been dismissive of Miller suggesting the same a month ago on the basis that it was helpful but he now understands the issue. He's happy for consumers to decide on Page 3 and not right for legislative decision but it's adult content.

Then there is the young adult still at home who may find that gay or TV/TS/cd material is blocked to them as they need parental permission to seek it. I know we managed to find help and support before the internet but most of it is now online.

That is the problem though, you can't opt out, you can only opt in, the out option is automatic. You have to make a conscious decision to opt in which will no doubt be recorded somewhere.

As for the use of proxy or VPN. While some internet users will know how to do it, many won't and will just give up on sites like this either out of fear, lack of knowledge, or both.

Testing times for the swinger community ahead I think.

Ppl look at porn on the net.....fact...back in the day it was pirate VHS vids and finding old bits of torn up mags in the park!

Its not the ppl that need to be 'policed' its the domain/site owners that need to be accountable and have tighter controls..

Go to the post office and register to get a pin number to access online adult sites? As in Germany? Is that correct? Is that an option being considered?

agree to a point..

its certainly a case of popular politics which according to several experts in this field will not work for those who want to access the material..

coming from the guy whose policies have cut CEOP's resources whereby out of an estimated 50,000 people in the UK accessing child porn less that 4% have been investigated..

and who has rolled over to have his tummy tickled by big tobacco and alcohol..

yeh right 'our Dave'..

World at One had some interesting debates on this too.

Sexual health information falling into a restricted category because of key words, novels being blocked because of key words. What key words will these include? Girl or boy perhaps?

We know of one swinger site in Germany that uses that system. Without the age check pin you can only access the "soft" pics (tits bums Etc) but we think it only applies to German based sites, as the obligation is on the site owner to demand it rather than the user to obtain it, and we've never seen a non German site that demands it.

Germany seems to be much more obsessed with protecting copyright (try viewing a Youtube video from there that includes backing music) than kids from porn.
