Athiest, no ghosts etc.

I dont believe in god because the evidence he doesn't exist appears to me to be greater than any that might suggest he does. (i'm being a touch PC here as I dont actually believe any exists to support the existance) .

I dont believe in ghosts because any supposed "sightings" etc are usually either a mistake, a con, a miscommunication of electrical neurons in the brain, several more likely explanations.

All MY opinion, only an opinion.

Everyone else is perfectly entitled to theirs too .

Dog and the flaky friends do indeed charge. Have you seen Ratzo's wardrobe? Or his hoose? Or his private army?

Yes of course. I do like to help. It is a square , flat , board with symbols on it including the alphabet so that ghosts can communicate with the living. Why the fuck they don't use their mobiles is beyond me.

Possibly subconscious muscle contractions caused by the tension and willingness for something to happen.

Possible just outright cheating (charlatans use tricks to help convince sceptics) .

Possible willingness to attribute meaning to random events as mistakes are forgotten and correct answers are seized upon and held up as miraculous.

Ouija is a common name trademarked by Hasbro.

The original talking board has many connotations. There is little scientific about a group of people holding a marker, and it 'moving'.

I believe in ghosts. I have seen 1. Only 1. I believe there is some kind of after life. I have seen too many people on the brink of death, talking to people that have already passed, not to believe in one.

I don't believe in heaven or hell, but I believe in a God, just not any organised religion view of a God.

Dunno Plums, I would say I was a sceptic until proven otherwise, but I have been on ouja boards where things just couldn't be explained.

I am still not sure what it was, but there was no eplantion of what it could have been.

are you 100% sure there was no cheating???

no possibility? I have seen magicians do magical things, but it wasn't really magic.

I'm happy for anyone to have their own views and opinions though, for the moment I remain sceptical.

Not a clue plums, that is what I meant.

everyone took their fingers off one at a time etc, and the thing still moved, even when one was left.

All of it was odd.

all a load of bollox lol

Ghosts dont exist never have never will if they did we would be over run by them !!!!

As for God I have never believed and never will I have no problems with people having their faith and I know that they get a lot of comfort from there faith.

But to me religion was designed to keep the people in check and it definitely subjugates women and that is eveident in all religions.

These are age old questions and no one has the answer.... to each there own

And I said this the other day

as Dave Allen said at the end of his show......

......MAY YOUR GOD GO WITH YOU......

"Ouija is a common name trademarked by Hasbro."

Stemming from an amalgamation of the French and German words for "Yes", donchaknow!

I don't believe in ghosts, sat here in the light, telly blaring. It's a different story in the dead of the night, in an old building, alone, in silence and pitch black, wondering why I'm suddenly awake. Considering I don't believe in God or any organised religion, I suddenly become very pious and Jesus' best friend when I think I'm going to come face to face with a moaning shade of the deceased!

I've seen and heard strange things, unexplained things, and heard first-hand stories of pretty spooky goings on, but whether they are the restless souls of the dead, I can't say. There are many strange things in the world, some are going to be beyond my comprehension, in the way electricity would have been to a Neanderthal.

I strongly suspect that the only way people live on after death is by becoming worm food, I doubt there's a heaven where Grandad is waiting for me with my ancestors and all my dead dogs. (For starters, I'm sure he isn't going to want to spend eternity as the benign old man I knew him as; he's surely going to be the thrusting young buck he was in his youth, in which case he won't be my beloved Grandad).

We are all made up of molecules and atoms, as are every blade of grass, every living thing. When we, or the blades of grass, break down, we are indistinguishable. Life after death is simply the way that energy is never destroyed, it becomes another form of energy. There's no Heaven, no perfect world where everything is dandy and all your questions are answered. Anyway, what's my Heaven could be your Hell - which one of us would prevail?

Heaven and Hell, they are both here and now, in this life.

If, when I die, I find myself going down a long tunnel of light towards my ancestors, it'll be my brain shutting down, the electricity fading out, just like turning my telly off, nothing more. When it's off, it's off, I won't know about it.

(Of course, if after a while the light doesn't go out, and I find myself standing in a queue behind some people in hospital gowns, soldiers in bloody fatigues, and a bloke holding a broken steering wheel, all waiting to see a man in front of some massive gates while he consults his big book, I am in DEEP DEEP trouble.)

* Now, bloody hell, what was that bump and footsteps coming from upstairs? I hope it's a burglar, not a ghost; I'll take my shotgun, not a crucifix to have a look.....

When I was doing work in a old buildig a few years ago now, I 'sensed' something moving behind me, something which I could only see/sense out of the very farmost corner of my eye. It was as if someone or something was walking or moving behind me, although I coudn't see any form or features.

As I had cables hanging down from the ceilings, bit's of platerboard, wood etc, I just brushed it off as maybe a breeze wafting some of this rubbish around and thought nothing more of it.

A week of so later when stripping a wall back to the brick, I was ripping off old wood cladding which had been there since the year dot, and what did I find ?

An old doorway and a small window, obviously been covered up for many a long year - exactly in the spot where I thought I'd sensed something move ....

Coincidence ? who knows ? But I am very open minded about that kind of stuff

Ok. I'm gonna come outta the closet here lol. My beliefs are very pagan in their origins. I believe in both the Goddess and the Horned god ( who, incidentally, is NOT the devil ). I'm also a practising witch and am fairly adept at changing things on the web of life when I am moved to. Ghosts? They exist certainly. They do fall into many different categories though and there is a marked and distinct difference between a ghost and a spirit. The afterlife - is what those such as I call the summerlands where we rest and debrief after the trails, tribulations and learned lessons of this life before preparing to return. I celebrate the wheel of life as it turns, listening to the heartbeat of the earth and in return it gives me a deeper understanding of what life is really about above and beyond the mundane necessities of having to jump through the hoops of earning to spend to earn to spend.

Sits back and waits for the pyres to be lit

I find is stupefying that something as dangerous as an ouija board could be sold as a childs toy. Originally they were a tool used by the Romany gypsies to contact the deceased and to use one one needs training in all manner of protections and meditations. Ouija boards have the unfortunate mark of attracting the darker spirits and entities that inhabit the ether and the psychiatric institutions of the world all have their share of broken minds shattered by the misuse of these things. I know how dangerous they are because use of one was my introduction to the occult and, without going into detail, it wasn't a pleasant experience. It did spark my interest though and ultimately has led me to where I am today.

If anyone here has kids who own one my recommendation is for it to vanish quietly into the earth never to be seen again!!!!

Have you had personal experience/evidence of this? Met anyone who has returned? Have you returned? If you have returned were you aware of who you were previously?

Not taking the p*ss, genuinely interested in you experiences.

I like to believe in God, Devil etc...but I believe the established Church (of any denomination) is a middle class organisation that preys on people's fear and insecurities in an effort to get them to conform.

Don't believe in ghosts....think that once you're dead, that's it, you don't come back and visit...you go to wherever it is you go to and stay there

It is said that to make a slave of man it is not enough to chain only his body. His mind must also be held and to achieve this fear is the acceptable weapon. Man must fear god, fear the devil, fear life and fear death but most of all he must fear his overlords. The keepers of his destiny.

You have so hit the nail on the head with this post
