Is this the beginning of the end for USA?

One time symbol of US industrial power the city of Detroit has filed for bankruptcy owing £12 bill!

- 40% street lights work

- Third of ambulances are operational

- Population down from 2mill to 700,000 in 40 years

- highest crime rate in US

- 81,000 derelict buildings

Last time shit like this happened it was the fall of the Roman Empire and I should know as I was there in my timemachine yo!

According to a recent news item, 50 million yanks are now in receipt of 'food stamps', now issued through a golden credit card.

I'll leave the fat yank jokes to others

50 mil = the population of Spain

Further proof the world economy doesn’t grow it simply migrates its wealth towards the opportunities.

The same system that makes us rich, can make us poor…

In times past western greed has driven poverty in areas of the world that are now beginning to stand on their own feet and demanding the sort of living standard we enjoyed while their citizens had so little.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I saw that this morning, the other bit about the fact that it's not the only municipality in the US of A to have filed for bankruptcy was eye opening.

Local taxation failing as people move out to find somewhere they can work.

Now a federal judge has ordered Detroit to withdraw it's application for bankruptcy as it breaks the state law and constitution.
