Exactly I think people tend to believe they are protecting other people's feeling by telling them white lies or indeed any lie.

Lies will always come back and haunt you and inevitably you will get caught out and unravel, be it a big lie or a white lie.

often if you say the truth thay have made up their mind thay are right .... even if wrong. I like the truth but will not side with people if not true to keep others happy and be a sheep .

Definitely prefer to be slapped with the truth than be told a lie.

Lying to protect feelings, ie, what they dont know doesnt hurt... is bollocks.

When the truth eventually comes out it hurts ten times worse, and the truth always finds a way of coming out eventually.
