"I love guinea pigs, we had two and i used to love hearing them chat to one another, and when we used to open the fridge door they would squeal for England. Sadly they have both passed away now..... And yes they were my daughters and yes it was ME that looked after them... It is always best to get two of them or 1 guinea pig and a rabbit as they do like company....Ruby " I'm gonna get two as long as they've been sexed! I don't want twenty!! Lol x

I know a lot of people that do house them together but according to the website it's not ideal coz of differing dietary requirements etc x

"The advice in this heat is to put a plate or tile in the fridge and when it's cold and the day is hot to put it in the cage so that they have a cool surface. OP, I thought you were waiting until Christmas?" I was. But I'm impatient! Haha. And the cage I wanted I've found on another site £20 cheaper with another 10% off. It might be a while till I get the actual pigs yet coz I want to check out a few breeders and not just get them from pets at home or somewhere like that.

I also think getting them in cooler weather means you won't inadvertently kill them on their first day with you.

My rats I had years ago from a breeder were so much friendlier than the pet shop ones I got afterwards. The pet shops prob just don't have the time to handle them regularly so they aren't used to contact xc

Hmmmm I have just read that back and should said that when the fridge door opened they thought it was feeding time, they could eat for England too, the vet made me put one of them on a diet Ruby

"My friend who keeps both told me the other day that you shouldnt keep rabbits and g.pigs together because of a virus that can be passed from one to the other and can kill the g.pigs Great news on getting them though :D" My sister breads both and they should be kept seperate....she has these skinny pigs i dont see the appeal they have no fur and look weird i laughed when she got them. Not laughing now she just had 5 litters all skinny pigs appart from 2 and sell for over 100 each so a profit of 1600 when she takes off what she paid for the 5 she bred

They don't make ideal room mates as the rabbit can kick the guinea pig. We used to have them together, until my daughter was doing Animal Care and then we discovered we were actually being very cruel to them both. Hearing two piggies chatting and burring to each other is so funny. xx

"I have found my piggies. 2 from a breeder I had recommended to me about 10 miles away. They aren't ready for another 3/4 weeks as they are still very tiny but they are super cute!!! So that gives me a few weeks to get their house all set up. And for my lad to choose their names x" Pinky & Perky.

One is white with a black head and the other is mostly white but has little black flecks all over it. I thought salt and pepper as soon as I saw the photo but no doubt they'll end up being named after characters he likes! He's the boss x

"Sooty and Sweep may be good and appropriate for today. Just remember to handle them every day so they become tame and relaxed. This will make it much easier to live with later on. " Yeah I've had a few pets that needed lots of taming down so I'm used to it. Only one I didn't succeed with was the boa constrictor!!

"Ohh not mean GP just not tame enough for me.. chickens and ducks were all cuddly tame but GP never wanted cuddles. I used to take the royal out in my pocket or round my waist lol the faces of some when a head suddenly appears out the back of my jacket collar was a picture. " Yeah our royal was awesome. So friendly. The ex took her when we split, stopped handling her and she turned nasty! I was so pissed off id of kept her here if I'd known

"Just as a note of interest, how much do guinea pigs cost, and I guess cages can vary as to whether basic cage or luxury pad " Hi, after a lot of Internet searching I found a cage that was in pets at home for £65 and I managed to get it for £31.50. Also the piggies themselves are £20 each at pets at home but I got mine from a local breeder that was on preloved for £20 the pair, they've been handled daily and are very friendly. Then you just need hay and fruit and veg etc for them to eat x

"Just in case anyone is interested (which I doubt but sod it ill tell you anyway) my piggies are settling in well. They hid away for the first couple of days but are now starting to come out while me and my son are in the living room to nibble their food. They are still jumpy tho but gradually getting used to a 2 year old tearing about the place!! X"
