Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Are they value for money?

I've found myself drawn to watching this as I can't take any more news this evening.

I've never seen these holidays but I have heard others talk about them. Have you tried them?

Friend uses them every year and thoroughly enjoys them, usually a caravan at a theme or country side/sea side park

These are in caravans. It probably will cost more to get there than the £9.50 for the caravan.

My sister has had a few of these holidays and she really enjoys them.

I couldn't do one though as I get very claustrophobic when I'm in a holiday camp environment.

This has got to be the cheapest way to arrange meets. Cheaper than an hotel and you could schedule a few meets over the time period. If you get bored you can play mini golf.

They are great value depending on the park etc. The ones I've done I couldn't complain about.

Sutton Coldfield

Yes good value, but opt for one of the nicer parks and there are extras to pay for. Entertainment passes and surcharges can push the price up to £40 per person, but still good value.

I've been on them years ago when the kids were younger. We used to always choose Haven all action parks and had a great time at all of them. Always went with my mum and my kids.

Haven't been on them for many years but the price remains the same. I think they are great value.

Writing this had made me miss Rory the Tiger

When my kids were younger, we did a few of these. Some were good, some weren't so good. Bit of 'luck of the draw' to be honest.

We stopped doing them after one absolutely terrible one at a Kent caravan park which shall remain nameless.. which left us needing to replace most of the boys clothes due to the 'little visitors' we found in them on the third - and last! - day...

The Currant Bun tried for about 3 years after to entice us to go again, but...... no chance!

ted.

East Yorkshire

I did one earlier this year. Fab park, brand new caravan with the works but paid for upgrade which with the extras came in around £25 per person but the kids loved it

I just loved it for the people watching in the club on a evening - more entertaining than the entertainment!!

We used to do them a lot before kids started school with my parents. Good fun and yes I would say value for money. We watched this prog and our caravans were always fine - not like the one shown on the filming.

Grimsby

Been on these twice, once to Lowestoft which was great and the second to Withernsea which was not. The actual caravan on both occasions was good and helped in no small way by homebrew cider but Withernsea just had nothing to offer (sorry to anyone that lives there!)

My advice, just go for it. It's cheap enough to chalk to experience if its crap but you're on holiday so you're bound to have a good time.

If you pick a site which is near places you want to visit, even if it's simply a good beach, then they can work well. Take most of your food or find a nearby supermarket as the onsite shops can be dear and then it's what you make it.

The first booking is a bit of a lottery as you have to do it by post and take what you get offered. After that you get a booking reference and can book online and get an immediate response about when and where is available.

I have been to Italy on these breaks four times now and had a fantastic and cheap time! You can book a week in the European sites and they are better equipped and have the bonus of more reliable weather.

So you'd still need to go halves with a meet.

You surprise me Miss_Tress, I can't believe you wouldn't have a good time rocking the night away with Rory the Tiger. And at the end you even get the chance to dance to a bit of Agadoo or Superman

You have to pay for at least four people at a rate of £9:50 per person. There are also entertainment pass charges for many of the sites. Again you pay for at least even if there are fewer of you going.

It is possible to pay £38 for a five day stay if you are canny and book quickly.

I wouldn't use them for a main holiday if I wanted perfection and my own ultimate choice, but for a few nights away then I think they are great.

Obviously the costs are not just 9.50, there has to be 4 of you anyway I think and them entertainment passes etc but they are still good value.

I'm going to look into going again I think, choose a park near a place I want to visit. How often are they advertised and is it just the Sun newspaper that does this offer

Other papers do a variation on them. The sun usually does them at least twice a year occasionally in between as well.

Looks like I'll be booking one over the weekend. I've been planning a trip to sicily and just had a little nosey in the parks leaflet that I get sent and there's a park in sicily listed.

We'll have to book for four even though there'll probably be only two or maybe three of us, but where else can you get 7 days accommodation for £98?
