Help with prescription costs

For those that don't have prepayment certificate.

If you require a prescription, ask the GP to check if its cheaper private.

A lot of medicine is cheaper than NHS charges.

Prescriptions in blighty are almost £8 now. Something's that you get o prescription can be bought over the counter much cheaper

Pre payment certificate is a cheaper way of paying for prescriptions, it costs me around £11.00 a month and I get 9 items a month, it saves me a fortune!

You can always ask the chemist if you can buy it over the counter, sometimes you can get an alternative that is readily available to the public.

For things you have regularly also ask your GP if you can get a larger prescription for the item. That saves money too. I get a cream that is only available on prescription and is quite a lot privately but my GP will prescribe four tubes at a time for me.

Devolution of parliaments and budgets mean than Wales and Scotland choose to make prescriptions free.

I generally thought if it's on prescription and available over the counter you got more on prescription? I can get 30 whatever tablets on prescription but can only get 14 over the counter.
