Mally, are you aware with this Ju-jitsu you are supposed to inflict the damage, not receive it?.

All these injuries, maybe it's not your sport.

I love the sport, and I wont go into the injuries I inflict onto others who are in the club, or those unfortunates who have a go at me when I'm cycling, was just a throw that went wrong, indeed I can calmly break a limb or two without breaking a sweat, the club just has a lot a very high level fighters

See, Kev knows, once theyre at a level, theres no stopping them, albeit an accident, she was very sorry afterwards but I said, Hey, its happens dont worry about.

Look in the famous video sites on the net and search for Female Thai Boxers, they would not love you long time but send most Blokes off to A&E

That's nowt - a mate was giving his partner combat lessons with hand-&-a-half swords. Thinking he was so much better than her he didn't bother to wear his sallet...

...ended up in hospital having his head put back together when she caught him across the temple!

Up North :-)

Broke mine a few times but as its cartilage it isn’t prone to discolour. That only happens if you bruise the surrounding skin pretty much the same as any other bruise.

good practice would be get a few women wi pmt in same room and say-"the shop ran out of chocolate" then dodge the frying pans, knives and anything else they can get their hands on to throw at you

Glad to see a guy in his mid 30's still competing. I'm 1st dan shotokan, but jacked in around 1983, in my 20's.

Bigbad is right about the bruising thing, it's the skin that bruises, and it really depends how you are hit.

Best of luck in the upcoming comp.

thanks very much, i look like an over ripe banana sometimes, there are a few lads my age but they've been at it longer than me, the comp will give me good experience cause it will be against fighters I dont know, where as in my club, I can guess the styles some use and counter them quickly, with that in mind, i'll probably get wasted haha

I'm sure you will be fine, lol. If you compete against people of your own grade or higher, you have a good idea what they are going to do. Some comps are open to all grades and it can be difficult sometimes, when fighting a "beginner" because they don't always fight "conventionally". This also one of the main causes of broken noses or black eyes, lol. You expect the punch or kick to come straight at you, but with beginners it can come from any angle, and hit you anywhere. I know, I've been there.
