Is anyone doing this 6 week thing with jobcentre where you have to go in everyday for 6 weeks with evidence of jobs you have applied for? Other then to annoy people, why would they do that?

Herts

I haven't personally but then again, I'm finally getting rid of them next week.

It would annoy me though because as far as I'm concerned it would take away from the time I spent ACTUALLY looking for jobs.

To give you a reason to get up in the morning?

To make sure you are applying for jobs?

Presumably to prove they are looking for work! However, it doesn't take much to cut n paste company logos from the Internet and create yourself a few job application letters and stuff.

my ex had to do this when they first brought in new deal. If he had no evidence of jobs he applied for, they would sit at a computer screen, pick out a random job within his travelling distance and ring them there and then to make an appointment for a job interview for him.

Why they haven't kept to doing that, I've no idea. I know someone who has been on JSA for 2 and a half years and has no intention in looking for a job.

But people bring evidence every two weeks so they still making sure you are applying.

I have been through similar with this in past whist its compulsory to prove you send applications for jobs the employers regularly fail to even acknowkedge receipt so in my view the same pressure from job centre should apply to them.
