in the night garden

On the island of Lesbos it is full of carpet munchers. Or at least it was the last time I visited in 700 BC.

So if you like to gnash the gash I would recommend there.

Thassos is a nice relaxing place but not huge amount to do unless you hire a car, Kefalonia is more touristy with a decent transport system- very pretty, Corfu is nice in places (well it was 20 years ago- just avoid Kavos)

Yes but not a cooling sea beeze,,,,,I'd call it a very uncomfortable heat...hard to get away from at anytime of day.... Quite a fierce sun too...

I've been to about 25 of the Greek islands, and all have their own individual character. We need to know more about what you're looking for, before we can suggest the best islands.

I want to swim and drink and look at history and drink and soak up the sun and possibly find a waiter to fuck and read and swim and forget home for a while ... Did I mention drink?

Whatever you do not go to Kavos in Corfu. Terrible place.

I love Crete, it's a big island and there are some gorgeous little villages to stay in if you like peace and quiet or bigger resorts if you want a more livelier pace. Malia is full of d*unken kids so avoid if you dislike that kind of thing.

It is really hot though. I am going at the beginning of Sept this year as I couldn't get out and about as much in the daytime last year in August as the temp was 40 plus.

We did a last minute booking, hotel and resort was lovely.

Eating out no worse than UK, typically 20-30 Euros for two courses and drinks for both of us

P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

Greece has a large number of islands, with estimates ranging from somewhere around 1,200 to 6,000, depending on the minimum size to take into account. The number of inhabited islands is variously cited as between 166 and 227

Crete has some amazing historical sites, including the island of Spinalonga, which was a leper colony until as recently as the 1950s. However, the island is very big, so you might end up travelling some distances.

I would personally recommend Rhodes, which is smaller, so easier to get round. Elli Beach at Rhodes and Ixia Beach (about 3 miles away) are great for sunbathing and watersports. Or there are seveal sandy beaches in the Lindos/Pefkos area (about 30 miles away on the East coast).

Both give you the opportunity of looking at history. Rhodes has a fabulous Old Town, with evidence of several different occupiers, including the Knights of St John. Lindos is a charming village, with Captain's Houses dating back to the 16th century, and a superb Acropolis at the top of the hill. All four resorts have loads of bars and restaurants (I can't vouch for the waiters' performance between the sheets, though LOL).

Rhodes has an inexpensive bus service, so you can stay in the Lindos/Pefkos area and travel up to Rhodes, or vice versa. From Rhodes Town, you can also take boat trips to the nearby islands of Halki, Symi and Tilos. Symi, in particular has a very beautiful harbour, with architecture in the Neo-Classical style.

Wherever you go, I hope you have a great time, and have a glass of ouzo for me!
