This is NOT about paying for sex!!

This is the scenario- you and your mate go out sometimes and you usually go halves. But now you just can't afford to do it so often. Your mate offers to pay for you so you can still go.

Would you be ok with your mate paying for you? Or would you just not go out so often?

Friend mate or sex mate? If the former no worries, as I would return the favour as soon as I was solvent. If the latter, depends on how well I know them, but would be concerned that they would want paying back 'in kind'.

I would prefer to not go out until I had the money too. However, if my friend was at a loose end and it really made the difference if they could go out or not, then I would go but pay it back asap

I've done this with friends. One friend went through a particularly bad couple of years - and I often paid for her to go out. She has since repaid me in all manner of ways, though I never asked nor expected it.

I have been in this situation many times..usually me the one paying...I was in a circle of friends and I was the only one working....in the end it got to much so much so I refused to go out...

My mum is having this dilemma at the mo! She always goes for coffee etc with her friends and the odd lunch but at the mo dad is on sick waiting for an operation on his arm. Her friends offer to get the coffees in but she keeps turning it down as she hates not being able to get her round in!!

I've told her not to be so proud it's only for a few months, they are long time friends and like a PP said she will repay the favour when dads at work x

I have done both over the years if i can help a mate out say for example he or she needed just to have a blowout then surely thats what mates do.

I've taken my mate out a few times because I could afford it. She didn't ask and never would.

It just feels weird the other way round. I haven't asked, I just said I couldn't afford it and she offered.

It is quite different when a woman picks up the tab for a guy, I was brought up and told that in now way let a woman pay for you.. May be viewed a bit sexist but my dad was very proud

I pay my own way in this world.

I don't rely on anybody.

But that being said, I'm known to pretty damn generous too..it's in my nature.

I don't let people take the piss though, but I've been brought up probably better than most and my dad always says to me "Pay it going forward son".

If a mate was in the shit, I'd be the first to help, everyone hits hard times.

If it became a regular thing, like paying all the time, then that's kinda taking the piss yeah...

..but it's good to be generous lady.

When im out with my mate we share the drinks cost. When im skint I wont go out. Same would count for a meet from here. I always offer to buy the coffee. And if a fullon meet if hotel or their place and they pick me up, i offer half hotel or petrol. Fuck, I sound great dont I? Im not really, just think its fair
