Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

My home phone has just conked. No idea why or how. So I suspect I'll just not bother with it. If it wasn't for the internet I'd shut the account down.

So do you use your home phone or is it mobiles only in your life now.

I still use my home phone every now and then, but very rarely, wouldn't bother me if I didn't have it that's for sure.

Still have one because its part of my internet/tv package and its cheaper to have it than not have it for some reason

I dont use it though, never answer it. Mobile only for me.

Never use mine... They're cordless... and the batterys have been flat since just after last xmas. Only 2 or 3 people have the number and they know to call my mobile.

I only keep it because the tv / broadband / phone package is cheaper the just tv / broadband.

Got two landlines one for work one for home. Don't know why I bother with the latter sometimes. Rarely gets used and it's expensive for what it is.

If we had a better mobile reception I'd bin it off.

Use it to call numbers that are free on landline but not on mobile...or cheaper to use rather then mobile

my mobile contract is unlimited anything, but should i brake it i can still dial family or 112 in emergency

When the home phone rings in our house now we all look at each other in shock as if to say well its not for me or they'd ring my mobile.....you answer it

I have a home phone line, mainly use it to keep in touch with family and friends abroad. Also to dial 0844 and 0845 numbers.

I do have one but I've had the sound turned off on it for over a year, and when my mum kept telling me she'd left me voicemail on it I rang Virgin and turned the voicemail off, as I don't like phones and don't like listening to voicemail.

I recently called Virgin Media to change my package to internet only as for some reason I was paying over £40 a month for phone and internet and rarely using the phone. It came down to £22 and they let me keep the phoneline - I suspect because they hope I will use it and run up a bill!

To anyone using their landline to ring 0844/45 numbers, check out 'say no to 0870' on google, you may well find a landline number you can call from your mobile with your normal inclusive minutes.

Only my mum rings me on my home phone at a particular time once in a while.

I ring her on the home phone as it costs more using the mobile as she is in another continent.

all depends in what you want an how much you are wanting to spend

sky or virgin is your best bet

been with virgin had have not that many problems with them

do a postal checker to see if you can have it but shop around first

TPS and anonymous caller rejection is hit and miss.

A lot of companies call from overseas and often get through.

very rare i get them now - only a small few gets threw but there easily just hung up, an never to be heard of again

Use mine all the time, put £10 a month on the mobile use some of the free texts, and some of the data allowance, but have £120 call time at the end of the year as I never call anyone from the mobile, nor do I take it to nights out only for emergency's.

Landline is on a call anywhere package as a lot of calls are to other countries, so use it all the time.

If you want to be hardcore, virgin do broadband without the phoneline (and line rental), it's about £8 a month cheaper

Family calls in (America and Canada mostly) and work calls out.

Plus my little old Jewish lady. She calls at least once a week asking for her friend Esther. Then when she hears my voice she knows she's dialled the wrong number again. She's been doing it for about 6 years now.

Only calls I get on ny landline are sales calls. It's good to keep a landline to give as a contact number to companies otherwise they spend spam texts to a mobile.

I use mine for landline and 0800 number calls, also useful for when I loved in a village and had very unreliable mobile signal.

Would never use it to arrange meets, much easier to change mobile numbers than have to worry about stalkers having your home phone number.

It's never used, but it's useful to have "just in case" plus it's part of the package.. As previously mentioned I have the ringer turned off.

I mainly use it to collect a variety of cold calls from PPI companies, Sky and all those blank computer messages.. And that's after registering with TPS.

I don't delete the messages and when the memory is full I'm never bothered again.

Also it saves giving out your mobile number when you have to provide a contact number on occasion.

I mostly use my landline as the mobile signal round here is shite and if I take a call on my mobile I have to have my face pressed against the front window in order for it to work so for family n friends its the landline, swinging its the mobile (makes for interesting phone sex)

The gigaset series from siemens are good. Type in sale and twin cordless handsets come up for around 30 with an answer machine
