just adding I think theres everything u can get thats like a like a relationship on here, it depends on basically how long uve known someone etc..I had a friend I was seeing regularly from here, she'd met in passing, most of my family...even had a housekey!

so again its more about the social aspects, it is fair enough to be able to meet up in bars etc...but its not really feasible to be taking new meets to family weddings, funerals and christenings etc is it?- take a new meet to a works night out, then another new meet to another works nite out???..I'm sure it might cause some confusion/nosiness to the employers.

I have lived on my own for that long I am not sure I miss much... I would say waking up with someone... But I am so used to my own bed.. that not sure..

I have such bad issues with relationships that not sure I miss anything really... As tend to get most things between my vanilla friends and friends from here.

I guess even little miss ice Queen sometimes misses just having someone to just be with... But.. I am content with what I have now.

"

This and a list of other things.

I enjoy being single, don't feel like I'm missing out. Most of my married male friends are openly envious of the way I live my life.

If my dynamic changes, I'm sure I'll enjoy being in a committed relationship again, but I don't miss it.

.

I lived on my own before and in between relationships, and I know I prefer to live on my own than to share my living space with another person.

I have enough going on in my life without feeling incomplete or empty, and do not have the time and energy to invest on a full blown relationship.

Being in a committed relationship is great, but being single and active is great too.

I don't really miss anything to be honest. I think I have been single for so long now that I'm just so used to being on my own. Yeah regular sex would be nice but I can get that from here when/if I want to. I don't think I am any good at relationships. I need more personal space than most people I reckon, and I am quite content in my own company. I don't even like sharing my bed! Well on a daily basis that is.

You know I have had this conversation about commitment phobia with a friend recently who thinks I am exactly that. I don't really belive in commmitement phobia really - I mean if you are scared of committing to someone, doesn't that just mean they aren't the right person for you? I would like to think that if the right person came along I wouldn't be scared of committing to them at all.

Or is it just the difference between wanting a relationship and not wanting a relationship? I just think I fall into the latter. If that's commitment phobia then so be it.

I miss someone to do the gardening, do all the heavy lifting, take rubbish to the dump and do the painting and decorating ......... after years of doing it for myself I'm not physically able to any more.

Apart from that I'm used to being on my own and can't really see me sharing my home or my life with a man now, unless he worked away a lot and gave me space.

I like eating what I want when I want, sitting up and reading half the night with no 'put the light out!' watching what I want on telly or days of not having it on at all.

Spending my money on what I want, wearing what I want, doing nothing when I want, going to see friends or have them visit when I want.

I like the boring predictable moments in my life and the spontaneous flights of fancy.

I think more people should spend time on their own to realise what they can achieve by themselves without having a partner for emotional or financial support.

Too many in this world think a partner is responsible for their own happiness, well being and financial security.

There comes a time to accept you are captain of your own ship in life.

but then I remember the down sides of a relationship, like having to answer to someone, not being able to come and go when I like, having someone want to know where your going, what time you'll be back, who your going with and I think fuck it i'll cuddle upto my dog and have a morning wank

My mum and dad have been together nearly sixty years and her secret to a happy marriage is give him his own telly and chair in the bedroom for when he watches the footy etc. She sits him down with a coffee or a dram a sandwich and some crisps then leaves him to it!

I have no idea how I feel about the future, my eldest daughter keeps on at me about finding someone but I honestly don't want to, she says to me that im going to grow old and alone but it really does not bother me, when I look back on my life I can honestly say I have never been as happy as I am now, I had a very unhappy marriage and I just couldn't go thro all that again, plus I often think im far to old to be going thro all that dating crap, I just want a quiet and hassle free life which is what I have now so why chance it

My marriage was very happy, the death of our only son broke us. Yesterday would have been our 32 wedding anniversary and I am sad we didn't make it.

I've lived on my own with my two youngest daughters who have partners and feel sorry for me, bless em. My life at the moment is fine, I even go on holiday alone and thinking of moving to France.

I just know I don't want to be by myself for ever. Having a best friend, confidant, lover all in one person would be nice for the future.

From what I remember of my last long term relationship, given it wasn't the greatest, I miss nothing

Nowt really but probably cause in my serious relationships i've been controlled too much and it was more about their way than a compromising

People say you can't miss something unless you have experienced otherwise. I think that's complete and utter rubbish.

There are pros and cons for being single and in a relationship, but I believe people who are in a relationship shouldn't complain about it.

Having read this thread it seems a lot of people have given up on relationships. And I find this sad. I also have had some shitty relationships but after a long time alone found a wonderful person to share my life I liked beeing single but Beeing in a loving couple us better in so many ways. But Beeing single is way better than beeing in a bad relationship.

Most people are missing cuddles and feeling loved, I have kids so I have that anyway and there's nothing like hearing daddy I love you, makes you feel 10 feet tall and bullet proof

Someone who understands that sometime all that is needed is someone to listen to you while you shout and scream then holds you till you stop crying making you laugh by telling you how sexy you look with red eyes and a snotty nose.
