No I don't go to church.

How do you feel Christianity conflicts with swinging? I know about the marriage vows etc but is there anything in the bible that says multiple sexual partners are wrong?

You're conflicted because no denomination of Christianity, or any other major religion for that matter, will condone a swinging lifestyle.

No, but I wouldn't chastise or belittle people that do as long as they keep their religious beliefs to themselves and don't try to force it upon myself or others and also that their religion doesn't practice any form of extremism and hatred.

If people want to have faith that gives them comfort and peace then I have no issues.

Attending a place of worship is entirely a personal choice and shouldn't be forced.

NOt sure about New Fronties, they are a little pentecostal and can have some very strict views. Oasis might be more liberal (Steve Chalke is a good bloke, but I think the Evangelical Alliance kicked them out cos they were prepared to perform same-sex marriages (they are inclusive).

The ethos of most religions are based on the needs of people, at that time. The idea that any established religion is relevant now is not the case.

The primary reason that a newer religion has never been established is that now false facts can be challenged, added to the fear of established religions having you blocked or killed for disobeying them.

Either you are a nice person or you are not. Same with swingers. some swingers are good souls and some are vermin.

So, the relevant morality is actually how selective you are in choosing only the nice people to swing with.

Yes there is a lady I meet who feels it conflicts with her Christianity . Each time I meet her we seem to go through the same discussion and debate about her having sexual partners. In the end her sexual cravings overpower her religious thoughts. I do make sure she is fully comfortable each time and wants but it’s always same next time. She is a lovely kind lady so I don’t mind at all and we both leave happy

Treat your religion like you treat your penis - it's fine to have one and if you're really proud of it then I'm happy for you...but don't wave it around in public and for God's sake don't ram it down kids' throats!

I used to go religiously (sorry) but stopped after my suspension of disbelief became too much to live with.

It's no use looking to the Bible for "rules" because then we wouldn't eat sausages and we'd have to slaughter a goat every so often. The Church has so often lagged behind society (LGBT issues, environmental issues, etc) that it doesn't really have a moral authority where swinging is concerned.

Don't ask - don't tell is recommended.

For me Christianity is about following the teachings and guidance of Jesus...not just going to church. If you think Jesus would be ok with having multiple sexual partners and having sex outside of wedlock and exploring sexual kinks and fetishes, than you don't have to worry about anything, right? 🤷🏻‍♂️. But if you think Jesus would not be ok with it...well than you have a problem - you can't have your cake and eat it. Personally I don't see how you can be Christian and a swinger

True as it’s about respect, responsibility and relationships with other people. If that means very intimate relationships it’s not religious reasons that decides and about how you both feel

I think..that there's not enough time to discuss how wrong Christianity is in terms of how misogyny has influenced its writings.

What is do think..

Is

If there is an all knowing, all seeing, all understanding God

Who gave us both pleasure and pain receptors..

His biggest concern wouldn't be sex.. and respectful, communal enjoyment of that which they gave us.

There are far greater "sins" than mutual love, sex and joy..

If God created you in his likeness..

And you lead a good life, treating people well and kindly.. and have respect, love and trust along the way..

Why the fuck would he care what you do with the holes he gave you.

The world hass issues.. unselfish joy isnt one of them.

"I used to with my son mainly to get him into the IMO the best school around which was the church school he got in the thing you do for your kids "

Yeah I got the "If anyone asks you're a Catholic" speech when I went to school. 😆

We did go to church as kids for a while though. Many years later I said "Mum, why did you send us to church when we were children? Is it because you believe in God and you wanted us too as well? Or is it because you wanted to instill moral values in us?".

And she said "No, I just wanted some peace and quiet for an hour!" 😆

My personal view is that organised religion is generally divisive & harmful to human kind.

Note the use of the word organised.

I have strong views on certain organised religions, but I keep those specifics to myself, unless absolutely pushed by disrespectful or unreasonable opinions.

If it's valuable to attend a mass form of public worship, it's yours to do. Nobody has the right to tell you otherwise. However, the same respect needs to be shown for those that choose not to attend.

And an earlier comment, suggesting that God is female is really quite offensive. Do we really need to put a gender label on a higher power? If there is something out there, do we really need to gender stereotype whatever that power may be? The suggestion itself is argumentative & disrespectful to many.

Yes the bible is written from the male perspective, but that doesn't make it it right or wrong. It simply reflects the times in which the scriptures were penned. We're all very PC about pronouns these days, so why can't we assume the same in terms of religion or systems of belief?

A wider view, greater understanding & less distasteful language would help society improve globally.

We tend to mix up Christianity with the Bible, both old and new testaments.

To be a Christian is to believe two distinct things; Jesus rose on the 3rd day and ascended into Heaven, and to live your life following his teachings and examples.

If you do not believe in those two things, then you are not a Christian.

All churches agree on the Ascension being the fundamental cornerstone of our belief in eternal life and to be with God and our loved ones gone before us.

All churches agree on following Jesus' example of how to pray to reach God, and to treat people how He treated people.

The bible was written many years after Jesus' time.

The moral question you face was not posited by Jesus, but by church leaders of the day in early Christianity in order to a form a moral code for society to follow.

The early church was codified by men.

As Christians we are taught to follow a codified church as well as the Gospels.

They are not the same. Hence your moral dilemma.

The old testament was overwritten by the New Testament and we follow the New Testament. This means the old commandments do not hold the same power they once had in the new church. We use them as a guide, not a rule because the Savior arrived and the prophecy thus fullfilled.

Jesus brought the Good News to free people, and if you believe in Jesus being God, then He knew what he was doing and completes the circle.

How does this translate for you regarding swinging?

Simple, He died on the cross for your sins, because He knew we would fail, so he absolved us of our sins both in that present, and forever more in His name.

He knows we will sin, so if you have faith in Him, your conflict is resolved, but what you are dealing with is guilt rooted in emptiness, not sin.

Churches do nothing but provide a focal point. It is not where you should be looking.

Figure out the emptiness to resolve the guilt, and the conflict is gone.

To be a Christian means to believe, nothing more, nothing less. Because we have free will, all else is just background noise.

This community has a very weird approach of taking a word with a specific concept and just ridiculing it..."I'm a straight man but I have sex with other men"..."I'm vegan but eat meat now and than"..."I'm religious but I have sex outside of marriage and take part in hedonistic pleasures" . AVOIDANCE at it's purest form 🤷‍♂️.

To be Christian is to believe in Jesus Christ and follow His teachings - and unfortunately the only recollection of them are found in the Bible. But cherry picking certain teachings whilst ignoring other (just so you don't feel too guilty about yourself) doesn't make you Christian .

Wouldn't it be easier to just call yourself agnostic ( you believe in the divine and certain aspects of a religion, but not everything) or spiritual (when you take the aspects of various religions that make sense to you and apply them into your own life and beliefs) ? You can still go to church and believe in Jesus, but you're not part of the Christian community/religion either. Wouldn't that be less confusing and less morally conflicting? 🤔

I'm guessing this is more to do with the fact that you have friends and loved ones that are devoted Christians (and they believe you are also Christian) and you're scared that if they found out you are also a "swinger", you might loose them...that's the conflicting part🤔

We were playing in the car up a little lane one night and became aware of someone watching from some trees… flicked the interior lights on so he could see better.. he got closer, right up to the glass, when I suss the white dog collar … turns out the Lane was an entrance to a church and he was the vicar I presume…. Once he had a long, good eyeful, he sloped off back into the trees.. I did wonder afterwards what would have happened if we would have opened the door and invited him in .

I go as often as I can.

My job involves a lot of train travel, and I love walking around old churches and reading the gravestones.

"I do not go to church but i love church architecture

Same here! I'm not religious in the slightest and don't believe in any of it but I love the buildings! "

Its amazing how the roofs are held up without any support you can see

I follow science / physics / humanity .

I find religion an interesting old belief structure to observe how it’s been able to keep going as long as it has in the western world and how it shapes life’s of cultures people still. . It’s certainly not the oldest religion though to observe .

Churches are cool though much like any worship building / site / temple from an engineering / design feat .

Yes I do go to church, both as a Christian and as an admirerer of architecture and a respect for the builders.

And yes I am fully aware of the contradiction in the first statement.

Some of them are absolutely amazing. The big ones for their grandeur and the small one for their simplicity & intimacy. I like the fact that many of the big ones, -Sevilla, Malaga and Cordoba- were originally mosques.

Perhaps he was on the way to or from a vicars and tarts party?

No reason why real vicars can't go to them or,for that matter, real tarts!

The old testament is a bit different to the time of Jesus onwards and he doesn't seem to have much to say about many things that fundamentalists seem to crow on about, that's usually old testament stuff.

I don't go to church, though would for weddings etc.

No I don't.

I think you can still be here and go to church though, if that's your thing.

We don’t go into churches for any religious/faith based reasons. We go to :- admire the buildings in all their glory, to shelter sometimes when out walking, to buy birthday cards( Blakeney Church), use the facilities and give a donation for the upkeep of the building.

Trying to visit all the round tower churches in Norfolk at the moment. ⛪️

I used to know a wife who often went to church. She used to play and her husband had no idea. I think it was her way of coping but it never seemed to stop her meeting more

Near you Surrey

The bible often talks about men with multiple women but not wives.

However, you can just go to church, do confession and repent your sins and apparently your good to go.

Choose the stuff that makes you feel like a good person and follow that, ignore the other parts that dont.

Very wise, was Solomon, in that respect...

Used to attend regularly but now it’s mostly just Christmas or Easter
