My only ever let down in 5 yrs came from a couple - via text - just as I was approaching the hotel lobby having spoken to them 5 minutes before!

"Something's come up and we have to go home - sorry" was the general gist of the message and an offer to rearrange another time.

Didn't bother me - I hadn't travelled and was in that particular city overnight already.

Didn't bother me either reading the glowing veri from a couple on their profile next day - extolling their virtues and 'genuine, non time waster' status!

And no - we didn't meet at a later date as they couldn't get in touch after I blocked them on site and in my phone!

How many meets do people arrange to have loads of let downs in one week

I've never been let down swinging, but I did on a dating site. He was really nervous and I thought he would bottle it.

Anyhow, Saturday comes, all dressed up he phones to say he was just leaving, it should have taken 20 minutes tops. Well, 45 minutes later I'm still waiting, no message. After an hour cursing his name I realise he's not coming.

About two hours later he calls, all apologetic to say he was on his way, so nervous he crashed the car and caused a pile up in Croydon. I said as excuses go, that's original but I'd rather he go and bother someone else. He swore up and down it was the truth: I hung up.

Later on the local news, there he was giving an interview about his lucky escape from the crash!

I have never had a last minute cancellation, but I have a three in total in three years that I had an inkling would happen!

Two were all chatty until a week before, and then went silent! So yes I was right about them...

And the 3rd was I have a migraine (on the day), needless to say, I knew he wouldn't rearrange, but still had the wank bank texts for a few weeks after lol

I was trying to arange a meet with a so called "single guy" who could not accomm, it was a sayurday night & he said the 8:45pm was too late to go out on a meet & besides it was raining! I don't think he was single at all but seriously "8:45pm & it's raining". Needless to say he's blocked & probably still not verified. xx LOL

We had plans to meet a couple. Mail from the bloke half on the site saying sorry but her (female half's) gran had died so they couldn't make it. Just a few minutes later had a text off the female half saying they can't wait to meet.

They clearly hadn't sorted their story out.

We did meet them in the end oddly enough.

We have been let down lots of times by single guys, a few times by couples and we have only let someone down once, it was very short notice and a genuine reason but they obviously thought we were time wasters... needless to say they didnt give us a second chance and I dont blame them.

I see a pattern here, one poster mentions a plan B and C whilst others complain of being let down for another meet.

I'm wondering if those let down happened to be plan B or C.

Sheffield

There was the guy I was meeting in a local (to me) cafe.

I did a bit of shopping then went to said cafe and sat on sofa next to the window and ordered a drink. Came on here and messages that I was right by the window so he couldn't miss me.

I got a message back that he would be running a little late - no problem, he was at work I had the day off and was quite happy in the cafe with the paper and drink.

I read the paper and finished my drink, still no sign. Messaged him again, he said he was nearly there.

I had a natter with the cafe owner, got a refill then waited.

Then I got a message saying he'd driven past and there was none who looked remotely like my pics sat in the window so I was obviously a fake!

Problem with that was my natter with the cafe owner had been about the police closing the road to traffic as they had some kind of stand off going on in a side street. They also parked a whacking great paddy wagon blocking the cafe window.

So as I finished my refill I reported him as a now show who liked to play silly games whilst never leaving work/home/sad loser bedsit of misery and blocked him and enjoyed the rest of my day off spotting fittie policemen.

We have only ever been let down once by a girl, we were her first ever meet with a couple and would of been her first time with a woman, she texts us a couple of hours before and said she wouldn't be coming because she was Shitting her pants with nerves and was too scared to come, we appreciated her honesty, luckily she messaged us about a week later and we did eventually meet her

Didn't realise guys would be letdowns almost as much as gals. I've had one and have had to let one down, hers was car and mine was work call out, I asked if she minded as I'm newly self-employed and she was sweet. We still chat but have busy lifestyles so it's all good. One day ....

True enough, but other pointers towards numptiness in the instance I'm thinking of, plus the status a bit later of "stuck at home and horny as hell" was kinda the kicker for the block button to be deployed

A guy I'd met three times previously had arranged for a first weekend sleep over. Was texting and mailing about his excitement till the day before. I'd bought breakfast and a new outfit, made a fair bit of effort.

By the time he was due to arrive, nothing.. no reply to my text either. An hour later I rang him, he didn't pick up.. But I did get a text saying "Sorry, can't make it" No explanation.

Two days later he shows a new verification for the time he should have been here. From another forumite as it happens. Praising him for the "impromptu" meet.

He's still trying to talk to me, even now via text, even though I've told him to fuck off several times.

In the six years since my divorce I have never had a no show - it's bound to happen soon .

I have only ever had a last minute cancellation years ago when I was a naive dater , and that was down to his nerves.

As far as I am concerned a meet is only pencilled in until the morning of the date. A confirmation phone call at some point and a.m text sets it in stone... this sorts out most of the time-wasters (those never planning on meeting).

On another site a man was communicating on the site telling me he had been up all night due to his grandfather having died, and that he couldn't meet me because he had funeral arrangements to make and a date set for several days away. It was a bank holiday weekend.... yeah it was also bullshit.

He didn't like it when I grinned and told him I knew a bit about western funerals
