I'm am sick of people thinking that the jobless are lazy. I have to jump through so many hoops just to get my dole, such as show proof that I have applied for 10 jobs a week.

If I could get a job shoveling shit for min wage I would, but nowadays, you need to be an experienced shit shoveler to even apply.

10 a week? Bloody hell. Last time I was browsing the job centre site and the local papers there wasn't one single job that I was qualified for or that I could get to not having a driving license. I'd if been in the shit then. I live in a small town and public transport around here isn't great.

Think this is the job centre/governments way of trying to stop having as many people on the dole and having a reason to stop your money, its all about figures and stats, the genuine people actually trying their hardest to get a job are tarred with the same brush as the lazy bastards, junkies and benefit scroungers that have no intention of working, its a disgrace the way this country is run. You cant do a cleaning job nowadays without certificates, disclosure etc etc, same with most jobs,

I also think that job centres could get a cheap deal going with driving instructors to have lessons. So many jobs are for people with a license only and even jobs like Avon/Anne summers etc you need a car lots of people could do those sort of jobs to get some money in x

Yikes, 10 a week? I have to show 12 a fortnight.

But yeah, I know what you mean as I'm in the same boat. I'm bored out of my brain and ripping my hair out trying to get even a part-time job.

Oh, and I kid you not, I saw a waitressing apprenticeship the other day... WAITRESSING!!! A 6 month "apprenticeship" to learn how to take orders, prepare cold food, serve drinks and clear up... What life skills can I gain from that?!

Honestly, some employers will try anything to get out of paying you minimum wage.

It's a fantastic idea as I, myself can't afford to learn at the moment but would you not then get more people giving up work to do it on the cheap? x

was done before but got scrape due 2 many abusing it - cant see it happening again

always remember the guy who stood outside a very large local business park all the major banks in the uk are at with a sign wanting work and got a job,why not try that and see

God I hope not. Giving up a job to just get cheap lessons surely you'd be worse off than just paying for them?? They'd have to figure out a way to prevent that, like only if you've been out of work x amount of time and can show that you can't get jobs due to transport issues like those that live out in the sticks etc x

Go and sell your skills...contact everyone in which match your skills....also transferable skills..I went into my current role only having minimal experience I was confident and smiley and got the job...also take up what the job centre have to offer you in the way of training etc...Something will come up

I've been looking for voluntary work as I finish my degree next year & figured some experience might work in my favour when looking for a 'real' job next year.

In the past 2 weeks I've applied for 16 & heard nothing back from any of them
