HUMPING FOR HAITI

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

While i have posted on my profile i am not playing i am still organising parties and tonight i am having 14 couples around to my house for a 'humping for haiti' party, all proceeds from this contribution party will go towards the haiti disaster fund.

Just thougt it might be an idea to try get these organised up and down the country over the next month and see how much we as swingers can raise, we can post on here how much each party raised for the cause.

What do you think and please no comments about charity begins at home, this was a huge disaster and people are homeless with out medical help, at least in the uk we are looked after.

Will post proceeds tomorrow - so please go organise a small gettogether and lets raise money for this cause.

Because IT WILL

I am a nurse and if i thought i could get out there to help with medical response then i would be there in a shot, this is the next best thing i can do, but thank you for your vote of confidence, we arent all thieving skants. Some of us are actually honest.

Yes we have seen the news and yes a lot of us on here are honest swingers.

Do you remember the earthquake in Pakistan a few years ago people raised Millions of pounds for them but yet a lot of the money never went to Pakistan, there was a programe on the tv about it, so be careful make sure who you give money to is a registerd charity or you know for definate the money will goto a charity.

Its times like this that you will see a lot of scams.

Just being honest.

If they say the money goes to charity it will

If you have doubts, and want to give, go along to your nearest Red Cross shop and donate there

If you dont wish to donate maybe its best you dont comment xxx

Ignore him betty, we have known you for years and can confirm that you are genuine, we remember the collection you did for south west hospice at one of your first parties and you made sure you had the receipt at the next party on the wall with the thank you letter recieved.

We will be there tonight at your party and will gladly contribute and its a fantastic idea. And yes lets get britain humping for haiti ( how long did it take you to come up with that one lol)

In defence of the OP I don't feel they are questioning the honesty of forumites.

Seems to me they are saying that avenues between forumites and Haiti can sometimes be used for money to be 'filtered' off and never reach your intended goal.

Oh bootie xxx you beat me too it.

As for the poster who is unsure of whether the monies will go to said fund. Perhaps you should have made it clearer in your opening post that you were not referring to bettyboo and was on about other avenues. Or is it a case of back tracking now seeing as everyone supports this.

And yes swinging is about trust, after all we let strangers into our homes!!

Well done betty, just wish i could be there tonight but i am on duty.

See you at the next one.

er...guess

There seems to be a helluva lot of charities all trying to do pretty much the same thing and all running large back-office staff in the UK and sometimes elsewhere.

You have to wonder how much dosh donated to, say, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) actually gets to the front line once it has funded the admin etc of thirteen other charities.

Incidentally I overheard a conversation about how a guy refused to support the DEC because of the religious affiliations of some of the member organisations including the Catholic Agency For International Relief, Christian Aid and Islamic Relief.

see in all honesty from what iv seen in the papers and news if i could be over there offerin whatever form of help i could i would!

over 1 million children have been orphaned by the disaster alone and if i could give one of them a home i would.

when my world revolves around what goes on in a 3 mile radius of myself then i will know that my soul has gone completely.

someday somethin like this may happen in this country we never know and i would hope and pray other nations helped us. i imagine relief funds would need staff so therefore expect that a percentage of donations will be spent on that xx

" .....i imagine relief funds would need staff so therefore expect that a percentage of donations will be spent on that xx"

Charities providing relief clearly need staff to run the business but there does seem to be a lot of unnecessary duplication. Similar charities doing similar work in similar parts of the work; each with a Chief Executive, often a Deputy or two or three, a press spokesperson and so on - many on substantial salaries.

That's before I get started on chuggers

i dont argue that they could probably be better organised and pay structured but at the end of the day they are the ones who organise the aid etc when some form of disaster strikes and maybe if they did all merge it would release more money for relief x

My remarks were not snide they were open, they are my opinion and I am entitled to them unless you have become prime minister, that may be the case as I never watch news channels and will never buy a newspaper, again my choice.

I do know that when the US were forcibly removed from Haiti the government condoned the killing of US citizens by the people they had riled into removing the US presence.

I support all aid to the innocents of Haiti and I commend the US for donating $100 million dollars to the relief fund and a lot of other aid to a government that treated them so shamefully.

We all know what governments do and the children and innocents of the Country all need our help, I have already made an online contribution to the British relief fund after reading this thread as I am sure you have too.

Nah, senior staff at UK based charities.

No shortage of politicians desperate to get their faces on camera. Ban Ki Moon was there a few days ago. Bill Clinton too. There's bound to be a Papal Visit sometime soon - just what Haiti needs, eh?

While we're at it. Dog knows how many tv film crews are over there, all struggling to get the most humanitarian story or the best photo. All taking up plane space, food, water, accommodation and needing protection.

without the camera crews there, I doubt many regular folk would be making donations

All are still in danger on dying if there are further earthquakes

I admire all who go

There motives are always to raise awareness and keep the cash flowing in to help there people

i dont often defend the media but realistically they are raising awareness and showin what is happenin in the area and they got to get there somehow!!

if the pope visitin raises awareness then so be it sometimes people after seein a figure in power bein there will donate and to me its a good thing, an even better thing would be these public figures dippin into the wee offshore accounts and makin a donation or taking a family to safety in their country if they wanted to leave xx

I have no problem with awareness raising - I just doubt it needs a film crew from almost every channel in almost every country in the world.

each country needs a figurehead it knows and respects to try to get the natives to donate

The more countries that donate the better

If it help the people of haiti, then I dont see how it can be a bad thing

Its not like the news network will send a bill for their services to the haitin government now is it

I actually think she was meaning the news reporter was the figurehead. One that we all recognise in our own countries and not any politician or world leader.

only a suggestion but some of the voluntery aids/ groups who help in disasters like that like the british red cross it may be an idea to pass directly onto them if you realy want to know where your money is going .

daz does a lot of voluntery work and has assisted them over the last few years and knows the money gets where its supposed to when it goes through them .

well done all who are having the partys and nice to see there are a few that care enough to do this ..
