Their world is pretty small at that age so they see more detail. When they get older and horizons open up they get less forensic.

And in ten years you'll be lucky to get a grunt by way of conversation...

in my own little world :-)

My three year old nephew was trying to interupt my conversation with his mum (my sister this afternoon). He couldn't get a word in edgeways until he frowned, looked at me and said

"Silence Worm"

We still couldn't talk to him for laughing.

(And the quote comes from Horrid Henry)

My young son keeps telling me I need a girlfriend, I say I don't.

One day I bumped into (strangely) a past girlfriend, I introduce them and she chats with my son a while, she then aske me if I'm seeing anyone now, I say no, I don't need a girlfriend do I mate (to my lad), No he says, then looks up to my friend and mouths quietly 'He does'.

He's a swine for it, he once pointed a girl (with her Mum, girl about 30 ish) out in a supermarket, asking if I think she's pretty, long story short I said yes I think she's pretty.

All the time whilst shopping that time he kept suggesting I go talk to her (he was only 5 then), I kept saying no, because I think she's pretty doesn't mean I want her to be my girlfriend.

At one stage we kinda skip around each other at the end of one aisle, me this girl and her mum, we smile as you do in these situations, my lad pipes up loudly and in a cheeky tone 'Did you just smile at her Dad?', she chuckles as I go bright red.

Eventually he said.. 'go on Dad, go talk to her now, Kiss her', I turned to see her almost by our side smirking as she had realised he meant her.

Now that was embarrassing.

Another one, after telling me about a girl he likes at school, he then states I should get a girlfriend 'cos I need one.

No I don't mate, I'm happy as I am, why do you think I need a girlfriend? so you can have cuddles when I'm not with you Dad.

I'm ok mate, I look forward to cuddles with you.

Dad, why don't you want a girlfriend?

Well, because all women are crazy mate (I was about to go on to say, well they're not, I'm being daft).

Ok he says, if you get a girlfriend Dad and you break up because she's Kookoo then I'll stop begging you.
