Bradford

From next Monday, the council are redoing my bathroom... new everything.

The only thing they guarantee, is a flushing toilet every night.

Looks like I'll have to put meeting people on hold

Local Leisure Centre - use them for their shower facilities etc.

Strip wash in the kitchen sink - bleach it afterwards... Seems a logical answer to me rather than stinking!

West Yorkshire

You can still have a half decent wash and wash hair using the kitchen sink. My boiler broke down not long after Christmas and needed a new part, 2 days no hot water or heating. I had an important night out to get ready for.. .. I warmed a large pan of water on the stove, took it to the bathroom and stood in the bath naked and had a good wash. Washed my hair with a jug and another pan of water.

The land of grey peas and bacon

Think of the positive that you are getting a new bathroom...plenty of folk don't have that and have to make do with shitty bathrooms

Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria

I had new bathroom put in earlier this year while I was on 2 crutches (great timing, Caz!) had 1 night with no loo, but fortunately, the over loo seat I had been using to raise the height sat just as handily over a bucket as over the toilet so I was ok that night. Strip washes and showers at my Dad's every 2 or 3 days did the trick. Enjoy your new bathroom when it's done!

In Your Bush

I fell in a puddle not long ago. I came out pretty clean, just had to knock a few clods of mud off.

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

I travel a lot to places where water is very scarce, so I can wash my hair, wash myself head to toe, and also do my laundry with one bucket of water.

My talents know no bounds I know

Chat up your neighbour. Most people are happy to help out now and then. Mine has a broken shower unit and is waiting for a new part. No idea how long it will take. She uses my shower most days and has her own key. She'll also be looking after my animals when I go away for a fortnight later on in the year. Good neighbours and karma, cant beat them

You're obviously not referring to Manchester then- never a bloody problem with finding gallons of it falling from the sky when I head that way

Problem with the neighbour idea is that if it's council housing there's a chance the neighbours will be having theirs done too

Good point.. family or friends would be my next place to call. Or Manchester.. not sure I'd fancy dancing naked in the rain.. in Moss Side!

Not worth a new topic...

But the builders have gone....

New toilet, sink, bath, shower, tiles and even toilet seat

Next week, they are just going to paint and do the floor.

Just going to have my brew, then go for the 1st shower I've had in 9 months, 1 week and 3 days
