Just had this for house insurance. Renewal notice from Direct Line for 400 quid, went on the Direct Line website and got new quote for 186 quid.

Cancelled old policy and took out new one, bit of a faff but we are now over 200 quid better off

talking of fecking insurance...mail's just arrived here.

As some may know...house got flooded before Christmas....well in November...

moved out in December for 6 months

just had invoice for the stripping out work to the downstairs of the property..

6000 just for ripping out walls...tearing up floors and throwing out the kitchen etc......and this is the insurer's own builders.....sounds like good work if you can get it!!!!!

I hate that 'newbies get a better deal' attitude just to suck you in and then they hike the prices next year.

Yes, she's still my little girl and couldn't afford a decent car so I'll make sure she has safe reliable transport, and if I didn't she would twist me around her little finger untill I did, I wouldn't have it any other way

" now goin to be stuck on comparison sites tryin to find new car insurance!! "

Btw if you are using those sites, make sure you have read through all the fine details. They usually gut the actual cover you get to make it as cheap looking as possible to make you buy it. Then you find out you are missing bits that you needed.

That's different. You choose to do what you're doing, and very understandable it is too, but that kinda negates your right to moan about it.

Near you x

I invite you all to try the price comparison sites that seem to be everywhere at the moment.

I was done a few years ago for drink driving ( i know, knobhead ! )..

And dreaded getting back on the road with the stigma hanging over me. However, nipped onto go compare and discovered my insurance had dropped £300 !!!!.

Since then , have been told by a lady who works for an insurance company that the best thing to do is compare all insurance when its due for renewal. You will find a company that are willing to offer you a lower price than the one your paying simply to get your custom. So, even though you have stuck with the same company etc for years and have had no problem, it only takes the length of time it has took me to write this for you to nip on and just have a go out of curiosity, you may be very surprised.

Sometimes these "new" policies are only for "New" customers, existing customers are usually excluded from taking a new online quotes, with the existing Company, not sure it applies in your case, but thought it was worth mentioning

We did the same. House insurance was £60 cheaper with the same company online. We bought it, they sent the policy and accepted the payment.

I only mention it because we had an issue with a national insurance Co. who tried to use it against us, in the end we asked the insurance ombudsman to adjudicate, which they found in our favour as it wasn't highlighted enough, as I stated, not all companies operate under the same rules

Exactly what the guy from Direct Line said when I rang, New customer discount, Online discount and their new 12 months for the cost of 9 discount.

He was very pleasant about it and happily cancelled my renewal which saved me having to tell them to feck off
