Have you ever hitch-hiked? Did you ever hitch-hike as a teenager? How would you feel about hitch-hiking now?

As a teen, myself and friends would hitch-hike our way to gigs all over the country, though we were always in groups of two or three. Ahhh… the memories of leaving a sleeping bag in a train station locker and then after the gig buying a 20p platform ticket to sleep in the waiting room.

I used to all the time, I still pick up the odd hitch hiker but only the delivery guys with the trade plates

In my late teens I hitchiked from Calais...through France and Switzerland to Geneva...then from there to Annecy, onto La Clusaz then hiked up into the mountains.

Now, If I am on my own and have space in the car I'll always stop to pick up hitchikers

Had my passport stolen while in france, had no money either. Got picked up by really nice guy near to Geneva. Sent us to his friends house in Lyon to sort out stuff with the consulate. A friend and I were staying at their various houses for a few days all told. I was astounded at their random acts of kindness in keeping us fed and with a roof over our heads during that time!

Me and my mate hitchhiked once when we were up in the mountains in Spain. We had left a party pissed as a fart and decided to hitch a lift. We spotted a wagon in the distance and my mate pinched two lemons off a tree. put one in each hand and said to me "Jan if he trys anything dodgy let him have it" I sat behind this farmer with two lemons feeling like a pissed wonderwoman with super powers coz i had these lemons. We were fortunate that he was ok, otherwise it would have been assault and battery by two lemons.....easey peasey lemon squeezy

Oh yeah another hitch hiking experience. surprise surprise was pissed again. was xmas and my mate had kopped off and left me on me own

so decided to hitch hike thru the mersey tunnel. a guy stopped and give me a lift. got to where my other mate lived and he made moves for a grope. ugly fecker that he was, i hit the seatbelt. opened the door and legged it. hid behind a hedge like a 6 year old until he had gone. near pooped meself.

i used to hitch hike to all the everton away games in my teens and still give folks lifts through the mersey tunnel on way home from work ,,, never thought about gropping them though ,,, lol

We stayed a week in Paris and left our passports in the hotel not realising until we got to the Suisse border, stopped the car and told the guys on the Customs control what had happened and they just said carry on.

Whilst in Switzerland I posted my passport back to the UK for renewal but it didn't arrive back in time, the boreder control from Switzerland into France didn't care and let us through without it as did the English border control at Calais - do you think I have an honest face

Would I have been treated the same if I was Muslim

Only ever did it once, back in the summer of 1983 after my A levels.

I went youth-hostelling in Scotland, went anti-clockwise from Glasgow to Endinburgh.

I remember walking with my friend along a very quiet road after we missed a bus, and I cheekily put my thumb out for a lift.

A car pulled up, in there 2 or 3 Scottish gents in their mid 20s, and they gave us a lift, chatting merrily along the way.

Bear in mind we probably stood out like a sore thumb, as my friend and I were the only female Chinese about.

Afterwards, I got a severe telling off from my friend for putting us in danger.

Thinking about it now, we were lucky to be picked up by nice people and not some sex crazed psychos!

Oh happy times!
