My town is having a 1940,s weekend , lots of things going on, people dressing up, military vehicles, all the cafes and pubs joining in, everywhere decorated in in union jacks, I'm taking the little ones down in a bit

will be wearing my help the heroes top when i go out. cant do much as ive got a badly sprained ankle and not meant to be going out but resting it

Pretty much sums up the attitude of people these days. Never mind the men and women who sacrificed their lifes for our country to remain Great Britain and thise who still serve, a bike ride is more important

I'll take the time to show my respects to the young men and women who lost their lives in two world wars during Rememberance Sunday, I don't need to spend a weekend celebrating people for simply having a vocation. Each to their own though, enjoy yourselves

Were they conscripted? Was their home faced with a legitimate threat from overseas?

I find the death of a young man/woman in conflict as sad as the next person, but when you join you know the risks.

I'm ex navy btw before the inevitable backlash

true losing your life is no a vocation. i have a lot of respect for all service people

Well any one in midlands get to Nottingham loads going on here and the local camp has swelled in numbers for this thing we have matlows(navy) crabs(raf) pongos(army) and boot necks (royal marines) and loads of vehicles the local pubs and clubs are doing discount to the soldiers to so should be a laugh. This is a day for us to give back to you. To raise awareness and show off what we do for you.

Don't respect me for my job respect my actions that make you proud. I am a solider yes but I am no hero. When my uniform is on I represent all those who live in great Britain and I act for great Britain.

with a capability to have local feeds to servers in different countrys, in fact they do have

so they chose to promote the tour as opposed to respect those that made the tour possible and in fact made google and all of us possible

no they weren't conscripted forced in to it

they gave willingly shame you cant appreciate there sacrafice

A vocation!! The day is about giving respect and support to those who sacrifice their lives for their country.. When you serve, you give up the right to do the things most young folk take as a given right.. I served 27 years, and I am damn proud of all of them...

Hear, hear!

Each to their own. I hate this recent trend of canonizing anybody who serves in the forces. I support the troops overseas, applaud their bravery and have deep sympathy for them when they lose their lives. But ultimately they made a career choice to join the forces, they knew the risks and decided to rationally take that decision.
