Flexi Ticket on DFDS ferries

Does anyone understand the flexi ticket deal (formerly premium ticket)

It says about being able to amend booking prior to travel... And that you can travel in window 72 hrs prior or after your booking?

So what stops you booking the cheapest deal on the 2.00am crossing (£39) and then roll up 6-7hrs later and hope you get a slot on the midday crossing? (£159?)

I can't find anything preventing it as an option? I guess if you turn up for the 10.00 o'clock ferry and don't get on... the worse they would do is hold you back for a slot on the next ferry say at midday?

But for being happy to sit and wait perhaps you've saved a tidy sum?
