I'm just putting together some thoughts on pornography.
I love amateur porn.
For me, it's not about seeing beautiful shiny bodies and the best six packs, longest cocks, most pointy tits and manacured murkins. It's emotions. Seeing pleasure.
You don't get that with professional, paid for pornography.
I'm going to talking about videos, but my thoughts are the same for still photos.
In the beginning, all porn media was professional. It had to be, budget friendlier home cameras were still about 80 years away (El satario 1907 - Betamax cameras in 1983).
Stag films/blue movies took us up to the golden age of porn in the 70s which had huge films like Deep Throat reaching the mainstream.
This popularisation and the advancement of technology allowed for home movies to be produced, these were sometimes shared between friends, or even through video shops which would exchange home made videos for others, or for professional tapes.
Homegrown video was founded in the early 80s, making compilation tapes from submitted home movies.
It stayed that way for a while, until the internet boom allowed people all over the world to share their home made films.
Things don't stay great for long, money always corrupts, and it quickly found its way in to home made porn.
These days, the amount of home made porn (giving its widest definition) is staggering.
One of the largest online platforms (the fan one) has 50 million submissions a month.
So... You'd think I'd be happy wouldn't you?
But no.
This huge influx has just diluted the good content.
For every "Han hotel threesome" there's about 12 million "fish lips rubs a cheap imported rabbit near her thighs while saying 'yah baby' with no change to her facial expression".
Media awareness and the culture of porn has also shifted a lot.
Watch a Strike it Lucky from the 90s and you see real people. Sid has a combover, his wife Denise has a dodgy perm, but I'd far rather watch them fuck than two 18 year old "worldies" that were born into the internet age.
It's very rare to see shy nervousness in any form of porn. The people who make it are for the most part, acting.
It's worth at this point accepting that there were a lot of negatives to homemade porn back then.
Someone making a porn film in their bedroom in 1989 would never dream that I'd be watching it on a phone in a self driving car (for example) in 2026.
Something that was made by two consenting adults in their own bedroom has a right to be forgotten.
And these days, there's a lot Tobe said for empowerment and that anyone making their own porn at home is far more aware of how it will be viewed.
But... It does result in more sterile pornography.
This almost transfers into real life sex experiences too.
A lot of things in porn ends up in every day sex.
The rise of choking, squirting and fisting. Things that used to be extremely niche are now things that people will give a try, or at least, will be asked if they're 'in to'.
And so it is with acting up. Faking it has always been a thing. But the 'bedroom voice' and the way both sexes act are so imprinted by what people have seen, that it makes it almost impossible to see anyone having 'normal sex'.
This is a load of thoughts based roughly around the evolution of homemade porn, but I'd like to end by saying... Thank you fab and to all those who submit videos to it.
It's one of the few places left that have decent real people having real sex.
And if anyone has any home movies... Send them our way.
