Aging gracefully

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest

I've seen a lady this afternoon who was 87 and had a hip replacement. Lovely individual, but what really stood out was how gracefully she'd aged. She still had genuinely pretty features to her face and was 5"10 with relatively good posture!

She remarked that everyone at the hospital was shocked at her height, even more so, given her age 😂

Have you come across people of a certain advanced age, who seem they've aged gracefully? Both physically through their posture and the way they move, or facially where they retain attractive features that makes one wonder what a looker they must've been in their prime?

Over to you

Aging gracefully is a lot to do with good genes, good health and taking care of yourself via grooming and exercise. My father started looking 'old' old around 92/93 before that due to being extremely fit he looked great. Now he's 99 he looks really old but has great bone structure and has retained a lot of his muscle mass.

I think beauty is beauty whatever your age

Come to think of it my dad is shorter, he's slightly stopped too. I suppose it depends how tall you were to start with. I've seen quite a few tall older people.

Visited my mum in the nursing home recently and on the way out, crossed paths with a lady (I'm guessing late 60's/ early 70's) with the most beautiful aura, flawless skin, wonderful smile and a real grace and presence. Sadly, she had alzheimers and I couldn't help but wonder who the version of her was before the cruel disease took hold. I imagine she was captivating.

My old commanding officer and his , both in there late 80s , always dressed extremely well , both walk there dogs for miles always polite . Both talk quite posh, but in a way that isent condescending if you know what I mean and they treat everyone they meet the same , he is what I want to be at his age , dont think im going to able to pull of the well spoken bit though 🤣

All over the place

I am insprired by my Dad, he isnt graceful by any means, he is a stubborn yorkshire man, but at 75 he is living his best life.

He looks younger than his years (a friend once said ooft and I vomited in my mouth a little) and he works hard to keep himself fit and well and he still learning new skills

As a rule of thumb, I always think anyone over 50 can look 15 years younger or older than they are.

I have a number of aging and graceful clients. I think is shows in ones face, if you're kind to yourself and others, and this affects how old we can look.

I hope to remain graceful in my senior years.

I know a lady who will be 96 this year. To look at her you would say she was late 60's. Her skin is like porcelain with hardly any wrinkles.

Over there...

Theres a lady I've met a couple of times who is 73, she looks 10yrs younger, and both times I've been with her is as energetic as someone a lot younger than her age.

Just hope I'm as vital when I'm 73.

There's a woman in my village who is in her late 60's. Does yoga, swimming all kinds of exercise. She has a better body than I did in my 20's.

I recently did a series of portraits of Vietnamese women in thier 80s and 90s and one who was over 100! Most of them still working doing manual work and walking 2 to 4 hours each day to and from fields and r mountain villages.

They definitely show their age in their facial skin , posture and their hands, but beautiful humans still, full of humour, resilience and wisdom.
