Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop

Have had Paint Shop Pro now for about 3-4 years and wondered why i see so many sites promoting Photoshop so much ??..

Have just downloaded a trail of it and to be honest, it looks old and dated, very user unfriendly and well not easy to use at all.

I'm sure there are loads of things that are different about the 2 programs and had a peek at the Photoshop DVD add on that show you how to create more or less anything, just doesn't seem as easy as it should be. Don't want to think I'm using a crappy program when most sites etc recommend Photoshop.

So, just wondered if there was anybody on the site who had or do use both and could give me a few hints on how to use it properly etc.

Photoshop is the industry standard and contains so many features you will never ever discover even if you use it for 10 hours a day every day.

I have used it for photowork for the last 5 years and find new ways of doing things every time I pick up a photo magazine! It is a complicated piece of software but when you have got the basics of it, you will wonder how you ever did without it. The amount of photo manipulation that can be done is truly staggering.

Photoshop all the way for me Martyn.

It's not easy to use but there is so much you can do with it and there are plenty of tutorials on you tube etc.

Or if you like you can sent all Stephs pictures to me and i'll do what I can

Personally prefer I Paintshop, but Photoshop is more versatile, if you can get used it. Not as easy to pick up as Paintshop if you start from scratch, but the plug-ins are a lazy way to do some good effects.

.

Photoshop CS4 direct from Adobe = £627

Unless you are a student or a pirate. LOL

and Photoshop needs a lot of learning, while in the past I have found PSP quicker to pick up, so better for the casual user.

(PSP can use all PS plugins as well!)

As said before Photoshop is the Industry standard, I've been using it for 18 years and all its done is ruined my perspective on life, anything I see printed or displayed I always question its originality, PS is a fantastic piece of software and only the true users can appreciate and abuse its functions within, just to let you know, non of my pics have been photoshopped

I'm still plodding along with an old copy of PSP, didn't know it could use PS plugins. May have to aquire a new one.

Have to admit I love PSP. Managed to convince quiet a few people that scientists had genetically crossed a Deer and a Peacock lol

My skills aren't so good I can conjure up pictures like that. And I'm sure as hell not going to try and better perfection by photoshopping you xMwahx
