For a drink, try The Old Joint Stock, next to the cathedral- just any local to point you towards pigeon park and you'll find it on the surrounding road. Awesome decor but its often fairly rammed, so be prepared to stand up- but you'll definitely get the atmosphere.

Likewise, Bacchus. In the hotel entrance next to the Apple shop, about 3/4 of the way in, some stairs down to the right- tis underground!

For food, if you like Italian, i can definitely recommend La Galleria - a proper Italian run eatery.

In Grand Central, lots of places- not sure if the tapas place is still operating, but heard great things about Comptoir Libanais (Lebanese) opposite it.
