What type was it VHS or Betamax?

And for bonus points can you remember the first video you rented from the video rental shop?

Ours was VHS , it had a wired remote. My first rental was The Empire Strikes Back

Not anymore.

First thing we rented was Conan the Barbarian. My Dad didn't look at the certificate and assumed it would be ideal for his He-man loving son.

I can't remember the type we had, but used to love going to the local video store to rent a video with mum.

My brother and I always wanted a good action film, but my sister always got some shite cartoon we had to watch, normally care bears or my little pony.

Early 90's VCR with a bundle of re-record Scotch tapes and a few Disney animated films. Put sticky tape on the edge and taped over them with WWF Wrestlemania matches. First rental tape was Coneheads. I think the last was Galaxy Quest. Always remember the excitement on Wednesdays when new film and PS1 game rentals were released, especially for game rentals like Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil 1: Directors cut for the new PS1.

When I was very young and Mum and Dad got our first VHS, the first rental was a comedy film which i think was called "Up The Creek"

VHS from Radio Rentals costing about £500. (My mini at the time, cost roughly the same.)

Can't remember the first tape I rented/bought. But I can remember taping Joanna Lumley on Children In Need. Which was my first attempt at using it.

I can also remember my mate and I hooking up 2 machines, to copy a VHS tape. Then my m/c chewed the pucka tape up.

Waiting in the rental shop to let the manager know I'd practically destroyed his tape. Was not fun.

We had one in our works rec room. As we were way out in the country, a guy drove to us every Saturday and he had loads of vids in the boot. We kept them for the week, and he'd come back a week later. Great excitement.

My friends worked in block buster and used to ride mopeds around inside when they closed the store and one day it went very wrong. Still kept their jobs 😆.

I can’t remember films I rented first as I used to go so much. But at home we would also record anything that was on tv onto VHS. 😂
