How have your tastes matured

As you've grown, learned, made mistakes, developed....

Compared to when you were 18-20, what's changed in terms of

Types of partners you like

Your choice of friends

Food and drink you like

Music / Movies / Art / Books you enjoy

Are they still changing or just more of the same but different

My taste in women has definitely aged with me. I like women more my own age or a little older, it feels weird checking out a 20 year old at nearly 40

At that age I was easily influenced, by men, by drink.

Young, dumb and kinda hot.

Now none of those things! I think I value people a lote more, and myself actually. Though do still have a thing for (slightly) older men...not the bad boys.

Plus I like olives now. And rum. And time on my own in the middle of nowhere.

As a person I’m definitely still evolving and learning about myself and I love that

I’m definitely less tolerant to other people’s shit now though and after being in. DA marriage for over 20 years where I suppressed my feelings and voice I’m very open now about my life and speak openly about the challenges I’ve had or have

I still like men who can make me laugh, that are great conversationalists and still don’t have a type looks wise

I would simply say, through life experience, travel and personal growth I'm a completely different person to when I was in my 20's. Some of my tastes have matured and others which only served my ego. I have confidence, have self worth comfortable with who I am.

I seem to have gone the opposite , in relationships when very young with older women, now prefer younger

Partners - I quite like men now. Didn't date a man until I was in my early twenties so yeah that's changed a fair amount. Even things like personality/temperament. Over the last couple of years I've got better at working out what is for me and what isn't.

Friends - not really, no. I've always been friendly with lots of people, have a very small circle of those I'd class as friends.

Food and the arts - slightly changed. I've gained a greater appreciation of musicals and the sheer volume of work that goes in to them. ❤️

I can relate to that and remember a little from your other posts, but I disagree you/we are completely different people, that person was always there in waiting. It's good to understand that and figure the things that diddnt change

It varies

As a person with no artistic talent. I used to think fine art was for people that could actually "do art". Not anymore, I marvel at the works I see in galleries everywhere. I can lose hours looking.

As I've got older I've worked out that subtitled films aren't all high brow, they just require a little more focus. It's no measure of quality either, there are some good foreign films and some bad foreign films. Just like there are everywhere else.

Partners, I used to date much older men... But now I'm embracing the Cougar in me and discovering the joys of Cubs...

Friends, it used to be GTG's Good Time Girls and Guys, going out getting d*unk. But now it's more about a nice meal together and chatting. But the subtext of understanding, loyalty, trust and honesty the same.

Food and Music, I've always been adventurous so I'm still forging new grounds...

My tastes are still evolving but at a much slower rate.

I have a far smaller circle of friends than at 18-20 when I was still learning what qualities made for decent ones.

My taste in men has matured in that I like the same qualities but in older guys.

Food, drink, art music, literature etc there's so much to see and enjoy but in the time honoured phrase ' I know what I like', however I'm willing to give new things a go.

I remain interested in new experiences if all kinds but I'm much more selective about what I'll try. There's a lot to be said for contentment

Yes, I think as a young person I diddnt understand art at all and was more into a movies or books story not realising in good films it's just a vehicle for what the writer/director wants to say about life/the world. But tastes haven't changed im still interested in the same concepts but interpretation has matured

I think my taste in food has definitely matured. Having grown up in an Indian household with two working parents, the only effort out into cooking was Indian food with the rest being convenience food. As I've gotten older, I'm more willing try new things and different cuisines and I'm not really as fussy.

Yes I think wisdom is realising there's so much value in culture and arts to experience but being more selective on what and why.

My taste in food has changed a lot. I still like what I've always liked, but like a lot more stuff than I used to. (Yet to retry sushi!)

Taste in men is pretty much the same. Always been a sucker (not literally), for an amazing sense of humour.

Grew up hating Olives, now I love them. Grown to adore mature cheese 🧀

Music, I was just into mainstream music in my teens. I've since developed a taste for opera, Latino pop music and even the odd gangster rap. 🤷🏽‍♂️ You never know where you're going to end up in life.

My taste buds have changed over time. I don't like sweets anymore but I do like desserts more than I used to.

I still like mature women but now I'm also finding women younger than me attractive.

I stopped listening to music for a few years as it gave me a headache. Now I listen to afro beats as well as old school stuff from 90's-00's.

My film tastes have changed. I don't really care about visuals. The story matters more to me. The standard of writing has dropped or studios are actively stopping good writers from coming up with something worthwhile. So many films with potential to be good end up ruined by the writing. Or maybe there's too much politics in filmmaking.

I'm disillusioned with politics. The parties are the same just different colours and badges. They all drink in the same pub.

Yes, mainstream movers have gone downhill massively because of the funding needed and how cheaply Netflix and other produce formulae based stories. But the indie and the stuff of the film festivals is just as good as it's always been.

Agree. I think as time speeds up you realise you shouldn't ever tolerate bad people or even further, choose only the best of the best, people that enrich and challenge you to be the best version of you, lift you up.
