so tonight my nephew took part in an interschool track event. he was running in the 60m sprint and the relay shuttle.

he has been excited about it since they announced the competition, only 2 children from each year were chosen to go.

his first run didnt go so well due to a sliht trip. he is ultra competetive and very hard on himself if he doesnt win things so i was a bit worried how he would react but he put a brave face on it.

he was lead leg in the relay shuttle and i have never seen anyone so determined to be the fastest! is face was a picture. his team won which mean he will get a prize at the prize wining ceremony next month.

what was even better was his face when e saw his mum there. she didnt think she would be able to make it due to work.

next competition is is gymnastics comp next month. he is very talented at gymnastics so hoping for a good day there as well

It's great watching them try and do their best, isn't it?

Well done your nephew.

I'm proud too: the oldest nephew made his first prawn curry this evening and it was very tasty.

What a lovely way to encourage youngsters - and what a proud moment for those who care for him, are related to him or support him for whatever personal connection.

Having met the wee fella its clear to see he is very competitive and that will take him far.

As for the gymnastics the stuff he was doing at your dads wedding was amazing for someone of his age. I'm sure he will do very well and possibly a star of the future.

Resurrecting the Proud Aunty thread as I am so proud of my three nephews.

We got their school reports yesrterday. All have done as well as they can academically and at the top of their classes. More importantly the comments on their behaviour and personalities is that they are helpful, kind, considerate and focused. They always help others falling behind and are liked by their classmates.

The eldest had his school concert and he was so cool on bass. Plus he is the youngest in the area to be chosen to meet the Queen and Prince Philip at the beginning of the week because of his volunteering work.

I've spoilt them rotten today.

Thank you.

We believe that it takes a community to raise a child. They're not perfect but all three of us (their mother, father and I) take time with each of them individually and together. Even when they are driving us nuts. If they are thoughtful and well rounded as adults then we've done a good job.

It's proud aunty time again. I haven't seen the school reports yet but today all three of them have received awards of one sort or another.

The big one has become a published poet, the little ones have been given gold award trophies for their success at school.

I'm bursting with love and pride.

Well done to them x

My nephew had further sporting achievement this year coming second in the high jump representing his region.

Looking for an athletics club for him at the moment.

I hope you find one he can attend. Getting them in when they are interested is so important.

Its amazing when you read how well children are doing.. Its my daughters last day at nursery tomorrow (i will cry) and i read her transfer information they are sending to her primary school and it was just brilliant, truly proud of my lil one!

I know in myself how amazing she is but im biased, its always great to hear it from others just what she is like. I know all parents are proud of their children but i truly am just fit to burst with pride.. she's awesome! xx

End of an era.. moving on up to 'big school'

sadly not,, ive seen loads of little ones graduating. Im just glad that at the sports day they just had the teacher allowed us to take a 'class' photo with everyone in it so that ive got that for years to come

The primary school she'll now move into will take her education right through until she is 18 with no transfer of secondary school or 6th form.. its just an all in one so wont have that worry

She's had a good start and once the first bit of excitement and fear has gone I am sure she will thrive there too.

This time of the year is so lovely for seeing the culmination of all that the children do as their day job every year.

I might replace the appraisal system with more of a school report and giving awards at work. (I do give them imaginary medals and chocolate already.)

That's amazing. Transition issues are stumbling points for many children. You will have to teach her to manage change as she grows older.

Ive been with squidge on 2 taster sessions now at her new school and she has no problems what so ever.

On the day we just looked around she even said to the teachers and other children 'im sorry im not in my uniform but my mummys not bought it yet'.. then proceeded to introduce herself complete with handshakes

The 2 visits (an hour each) she mixed well with the children and already made a few friends so she is starting to get excited.. Certainly a confident and independent child. Sometimes i just wish she would want me more..
