Well now my hormone imbalance is under control, my weight loss journey starts again. After losing so much and having to start again is disheartening. However, there is a few on weight loss programmes and as the support threads worked well in the past thought I'd restart them. Put how much you have lost each week and we can advice and support each other. I had my first weigh in this morning

I am on a specialist weight management service run by the nhs in my area. It's a complete lifestyle change but taking things very slowly small changes to improve your health. There is support from dietician, physio, psychologist and occupational therapists.

I would love to join in here but I think it will be fortnightly or monthly rather than weekly

Something I learned yesterday is it takes around three weeks for the changes to start working. Not the weight loss but say you don't eat breakfast then you start eating breakfast it takes around three weeks before you notice the benefits so stick it out peeps.

I'm following the dietary advice my medical team have carefully laid out for me... If I fancy it, have it - even if it means having chips three times a day with an entire tub of ice cream for elevenses!

Being poorly has to have some consolations

Worst bit of diet advice from Paul

mckenna only eat when you're hungry , how daft . only eat when you're not hungry only eat small portions eat equal protein carb and veg , don't eat salad as a meal , eat non salted nuts avoid processed food , don't eat white bread or rice ever again ever , if you become hungry eat as much fish as you want . Stop mayo and crisps forever they are drugs , every time you are compelled to eat an empty food like crisps tap you head and say crack cocaine because the effect on the body brain is identical and on the body worse love being a control freak x never ever go on a daily hate mail diet , you can't eat too many bananas or pink lady apples , baby steps small habitual changes

Ok I would perhaps try to avoid using the word meal , I did suggest a number of small portions

So a poached egg on brown toast using olive or another oil as a light spread , 2 portion of cashew nuts and piece of fruit or carrot , 3 chicken in arribatta source with pinto beans and veg, salad or fruit of choice 4 100 G ish of fromage frais with your own summer fruits no added sugar mixed in , pine nuts, 5 minced beef chilli slow cooked loads of veg of choice small portion of brown rice

20 grams of nuts with banana or pink lady apples up to four times a day , a full pint of skimmed milk flavoured blended with fresh fruit is a portion

Avoid low fat yogurt x

Get over the concept of meals and specific food at specific times , beef and chillies are good at breakfast , make oat pancakes for wraps , from frais oats pulses and eggs are supper foods

I've just started using my fitness pal. Workingsway mmeans trying to get to regular meetings is hard.

This app has worked out daily calorie intake, and has loads of food stored so will yell you what the calorie content is.

As its on my phone I can update my food diary almost instantly.

I d just say... Bananas in moderation - you know what they can do to you!

(Apart from that they really do contain too much sugar if eaten by the dozen!)

I am really sorry, Diamondsmiles - it was not an intentional disruption and I did not mean to throw people off. I completely understand you on this matter and, light-hearted as it was meant to be - I was being serious about the number of bananas that should be consumed in a day as they really contain a lot of sugar.

Bananas are good for their antacid effect and also they offer a quick fix energy boost through three differnet sugars sucrose, fructose and glucose. Therein lies the problem though if eaten in too copious portions.

I see people just eating fruit all day long. This isn't good. Yes fruit contains natural sugar but you don't want to overdo the amount of sugar you intake. Some fruits are lower in sugar, berries and cherrys in general and I think maybe pineapple too. I would mix fruit with veg as 2 portions of fruit and 3 veg. Be wary of veg too, root vegetables are usually higher in carbs that those that grow above the ground. Some veg contains as much vitamins as fruit so for example you can get as much vitamin C from a pepper as you can from an orange but without the sugar.

I live by the cals in cals burned theory. But I don't go mad on sugary stuff. I get my sugar from a little honey at breakfast time and fruit pretty much. Try to always include protein in a meal as this will help to make you feel full. Do not go without fats but try to eat good fats. Nuts are a good source (just plain nuts no salt / roasted etc), fish oil too etc etc.

One word I do detest is the word diet. When I hear people say they are on a diet I just think they'll do it for so long then give up and end up back where they started. As mentioned very early on it is a lifestyle change. Once made it is easy to keep up but it will be hard to start with giving up things like crisps etc. I will say I don't miss them at all now. I agree with something else that was said and that the body will take a while to start changing but once it does if you keep up the lifestyle change you'll reap the benefits

Hope it all goes well for you all

because a good diet isnt full of excesses of crap that will pile on the weight and excercise will leave you with more energy and looking better/healthier

or in a fab way you will have more energy for longer shagging sessions

Thats brilliant

I did the WW plan for a few months last year and lost 2.5 stone, but put a fair bit back on. Knew I had to get back on it, knew what to do BUT have to go to the meetings for the motivation and encouragement.

I rejoined last Thursday so my weigh in day is tomorrow so fingers crossed it will be a loss

Good luck to everyone x

Just weighed in at Slimming World after working away for 3 months and then a 2 week holiday in Turkey.

I'm 16st 2lbs as of 15mins ago.

Going to get to 14st 7lbs which is my best weight.

I got down to 13st 10lbs about 18months ago, but I was too light at that weight.

I'm going to lose 2lbs for next week

*In the morning have some fruit.

*Lunch time have some fish and 1 or 2 slices of bread.

*Afternoon have some more fruit.

*Evening have a can of soup.

*Walk 1 mile per day (that's not far)

Do that for a month (30 days straight) and you'll lose plenty.

I am wondering and thinking out loud.... if any of the recipes, the suggestions, the diet clubs including WW and slimming world had a long term success with their diets etc... why do people regain the weight so quickly after.

This has bothered me for some time and I am truly wondering if all we need to do is

1. cutting down on carbs (as we are far more sedentary than our forefathers who spent their days hunting and gathering

2. eat when we are genuinely hungry not because we are bored etc

3. exercise more as our forefathers did through having to survive and hunt etc.

4. avoid the mand made stuff including cakes whenever possible

5. stop buying so called diet rpoducts which are designed to makes us regain the weight and more!

Just a thought?

Talking fromy own experience, I thing these diets can work long term, but people follow them until they think they have cracked it. When they stop going to meetings etc the focus stops.

These are really about changing your habits for life. So being able to have a bad week on holiday, but being disciplined enough to get back to it afterwards.

I would completely agree with you there! Being on a diet byimplication means doing the right thing for a short (or longer but still limited)time only whereas asuccessful weight loss needs to be achieved through a change in daily habits!

It's not the diets that fail, it's the people. I gain weight because I eat too much. I love food.

I lost 6st a few years ago and I've only regained about a stone. My top tip is binning all your bigger clothes. It worked for me anyway.

Slimming World all the way for me. It's not a diet but a lifestyle change that makes me pick healthy choices. I've lost 4 stone to date but stuck for a while because of illness and being immobile but I'm back in the zone now and going for it and hopefully it'll make things easier on the crutches

Fad diets are sold on fucking hype.

I know it, I see it on a daily basis at work, when we are asked to review other FAD-istic companies bullshit from the a-hole sales rep's they send.

Those genuinely looking to lose weight are sold on the hype in front of their eyeballs. And when that bullshit programme/product/regimine AKA fucking "FAD" doesn't deliver.

Those that purchased it get all "re-depressed" about their weight again, blame themselves and end up binging resulting in them being even MORE overweight than they started.

The hype these things are sold on are so good, that people cannot make distinction between the hype they are reading and what they actually bought.

That being said, it still takes will power.

Most know what they have to do, but most just won't do it.

FAD'S are the closet CAUSE of weight issues.

Without appearing to be rude.

You obviously don't have a weight problem..be it through hard work or just one of the lucky people that are just naturally blessed !

For some of us,it's not just a case of "doing what suited us" that put a bit of weight on.

I for one have health issues (fybromialgia and arthritis) plus had a flood last year and my ground floor was trashed, the whole of my downstairs was ruined, I had no proper kitchen to cook in..ripped up concrete and such like for almost 6 months, dust and debris everywhere.

Ok call it an excuse or whatever BUT some of us are trying to do do something about it and we dont all just sit and do bugger all and feed our faces all day

Had weigh in this morning so thought I would share my weight loss. 3 lbs off and that was with a week away at my sisters!!! If I can do 1 1/2 next week that's 2 stones in 9 weeks, am feeling rather pleased with myself and a lot healthier.

Natural appetite suppresents like apples and grean tea can help. Also if the diet is making you feel lethargic, coffee is great for energy and is a natural diuretic.

An ephedrine/caffeine stack is great for fat loss if you fancy cutting corners, but be carefull with that.

Remenber folks without exercise diets as such notbmuch good.

Best that works for me is the general motors diet you probabky think what the hells that but google it.

It has all the things in it which i actually like which helps and if followed correctly works well.

It will like other diets not be for everyone and is not an extreme weight loss diet.

Good luck.

Well done to everyone who's been losing weight. I admire all your willpower. I tried all sorts of diets over the years with no success, lost weight, put it all back on (and more), tried again to lose, put even more on, depression because of weight gain which caused me to gain even more. Eventually I realised I had to do something drastic. I went to my doctor, who was so understanding about my addiction to food, and we spoke about bariatric surgery. I'm now 13 stone lighter and still losing and enjoying life again. The only problem I have now is excess skin. Any good tips on getting rid of it?

That is my biggest worry! Having lost 26 1/2 lbs I haven't got any excess skin yet but it will most likely happen, have been told I need to exercise to tone up.

I have a long way to go I know, but I need to lose another 4 stones by next June I will do it!

I'm going back on a diet again - my strategy is calorie control and exercise!

No more booze, control (well - try to!) the chocolate snacks, restrict take out food to once a week if i really need one and cut out the fizzy drinks - especially since i have a caffeine addiction!

Oh, and my work out regime - SEX!!

Plus having no money will help, I can't eat what i can't buy

Lost 2s 6lbs few months ago and have stayed the same - only another 5s to go until i'm at my ideal weight . . .

Aww - thanks!!

Though tbh its clever photography that makes me look better than i am . . .

If you mean the general 'dieting' then no i don't - but the (s)exercise is already being taken care of - he just hasn't been told that he needs to do more yet

maybe i should take more snacks to work but i cant eat too much fruit so not really sure what to take.

I've lost just over a stone since February, by healthy eating and lots of walking. It's slow going, but luckily for me it's going in the right direction

I track my food and get some brilliant support from myfitnesspal here online it's free to join and so far it's working for me, they have a mobile app too so tracking food and exercise is dead easy.

If that's in a week that's a great loss. Recommendation is not more than 3lbs a week else your skin won't spring back properly and you get left with unsightly folds. Slow and sure is best!

"Worst bit of diet advice from Paul

mckenna only eat when you're hungry , how daft . only eat when you're not hungry only eat small portions eat equal protein carb and veg , don't eat salad as a meal , eat non salted nuts avoid processed food , don't eat white bread or rice ever again ever , if you become hungry eat as much fish as you want . Stop mayo and crisps forever they are drugs , every time you are compelled to eat an empty food like crisps tap you head and say crack cocaine because the effect on the body brain is identical and on the body worse love being a control freak x never ever go on a daily hate mail diet , you can't eat too many bananas or pink lady apples , baby steps small habitual changes "

Argh!!

I have to cut out and/or avoid a whole load of foods and certain ingredients because of health problems!!!

I have to completely cut out alcohol, fizzy drinks, resistant starch and Sorbitol (a sweetener)

I then have to avoid caffeine in any form, processed snacks, fatty and/or fried food, wholegrain & bran (NO to cereals), nuts/seeds and no more than 3 portions of fresh fruit a day!

Most is easy enough to cut out/reduce - but some is going to be really hard to stick to or a pain to figure out if things 'ok' or not!

Fecking health problems shit . . .

Though i guess some of the changes would be good ones anyway and may help things along

I don't personally agree in the Cambridge diet/lighter life/slim fast etc. they don't teach you to change your eating habits to healthy. They just get you to avoid food. Great for a quick fix but I've never known anyone have long term success with those diets it all just piles back on again as soon as they start eating again. And they are extortionate!!

Im doing the reboot juice program, seems to be working so far, have a stone and a half to lose to get back down to my fighting weight again.

Started yesterday after seeing the film on channel 5 last week or so its on catch up and very inspiring its called Fat,sick & nearly dead.

I would highly recommend all those who have medical problems watch it and who are taking pills for all sorts of so called diseases which our medical proffession just treat with pills and are actually caused by overeating and processed foods.

Corn syrup and its derivatives being used in so called diet products!!

Juicing is easy and relitivley cheap to do!! can do it for a few weeks then integrate it into a healthy eating regime.

Im amazed how well its working lost 4 pounds over the first few days and hopefully

type in reboot with joe into google!!

There was a programme on a while back about so called diet products. They are advertised as low in fat, which they are so are breaking no laws but they are loaded with sugar. So you think your being healthy but your not!

Sadly this is indeed generally the case. They remove the fat so to get the flavour back they load it with sugar, though sometimes it's sweetner. Best avoided if possible. It is hard at the start when changing your eating habits / lifestyle. You will crave sweet things and fatty things. Eventually though your palette adjusts and you simply don't miss it. The same will happen when you change a high carb diet to a decent mix of protein / carbs. You'll crave carbs, just up the protein intake to curb the hunger though. I used to be a 4 spoon of sugar in a cuppa man, now I enjoy my tea with none! I used to think people who drank tea with no sugar were crazy, now I love it. Green tea is also great.

Well done to all those that have lost and those that have made changes for the better. Stay positive and keep doing what you're doing and here's to you all reaching your desired targets

Weightwatchers, Slimming World et al are essentially, commercially recidivist diet regimes..They want you back!

They do not foster a healthy relationship with food, but positively encourage an obsession with food that is not sustainable. We don't want to lose a 1/2 pound every month, we want it now, and it's so easy to lose heart, we have all been there.

Weightwatchers, Slimming World, are not self help organisations they are businesses, and businesses make profits, and they do that because people come back for more.

It would be nice if there was a magic bullet solution, but there isn't other than patience and resolve

I couldn't do a juice diet it's too faddy for me and eventually I will have to go back to eatingnnormal food and no doubt put it back on again. I have opted to re educate my body to help with my diabetes. I stare clear of fat green options because contrary to popular belief fat doesn't make you fat, excess carbohydrates do.

I am also 're educating my mind to enjoy exercise. After a horrid relationship with pe at school exercise was never my favourite thing but I have just got back in from my first session at the gym (I might not be able to walk tomorrow!!!) and am already planning in how I can fit going to the gym and going out for runs into my schedule for the next week. I feel energised and raring to go!!!

You are quite right the body does require fats and they shouldn't all be avoided. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated are good fats, these can be found in nuts. Trans fats are awful, avoid like the plague if possible! saturated fat isn't as good as the first two I mention but your body can still have a little. It's all about understanding which foods have the good stuff in and limiting the amounts you intake to the correct levels

I'm 100% with you on fad diets, they are pointless. I'm sure I mentioned it before but to commit to this is a lifestyle change. Keep up the exercise too and that energised feeling just gets better and better

I should have expanded on the nuts a bit more. Nuts aren't the only food substance good fats are found in. Fish oils, avocado olive oil etc also have them in. If you like to use margarine then try to ensure its one that uses these and not trans fats

Fully agree on the faddy diet and that the body needs oils etc but a reboot is just that its a way of cleansing your body over a period of time be it 5/10/15 days to get not only the weight down but to cleanse the system of all its crap.

As a meat eater and athletic person who eats alot of carbs and white meat and fish know all about how to eat healthily and all about nutrition. I just like most on here at times dont follow logic and eat crap and over 30+ years that build up pesticides metals etc in your system and fat cells store these bad things in you till it breaks down and releases it back into your body.

Therefore a reboot cleanses these out by breaking down the fat and the body uses its excess fat and excess build up of oils etc whilst all the time your ingesting large amounts of micronutrients from the veg and fruit juices.

Its an 80/20 principle alot of veggies with some fruit or alot of fruit with some veggies.

For those that haven't tried it I recommend first watching the film fat sick and nearly dead. especially those of you very overweight and in the obese and morbidly obese range.

Weightwatchers and other slimming clubs really don't work for 80-90% of those who go in the long run, its a quick fix then back to piling on the pounds.

oh and have lost 10 pounds in 3 days!! and will keep it off as changing my eating at the end of this to include juices everyday. Willpower works.

totally agree all slimming products are a waste of time, we were not built to eat meat and processed foods!! have 2 meals a week with meat and fish in and the rest fresh ingredients and see the weight drop off, also go do some exercise, if you dont walk at least every day for 30 minutes to an hour or every sweat through activity you will never lose weight or keep it off.

Instead of sitting down to watch eastenders or corrie, take that time to go for a walk, you life will benefit in 2 ways you wont watch that crap and be happier and more healthy

Having lost 4 stone since Christmas I've finally realised I need to sort out my wardrobe.. my jeans literally fell down yesterday whilst out walking around a lake (No, I wasn't on a meet)

Now I find I have little that fits. I'm not posting to brag, far from it. I still have a very long way to go..

Has anyone else been so blinkered to their weight loss they've been walking around looking like coco the clown? Will I always see a fat girl in the mirror regardless of actual size?

I was just under 9 stone and a comfy size ten when I lost all my weight before I fell pregnant. Still took size 14's into the changing room when I went to try on jeans etc. took a long time to sink in. You've done amazingly well tho. X.

I don't know about being blinkered to weight loss, my problem is not wanting to waste money on new clothes until I real my goal weight as the inbetween clothes will also become too big. It's a long time to be wearing baggy clothes though!

I'm not currently back at a club. Choose to put the money on the gym instead.

It's that week for me this week and according to scales I've put on 2lb... But that could just be water.

I'm annoyed at myself for having lost so much then putting it on and a bit extra all over a bad breakup... But I'm changing lifestyle not dieting... So this time it will stay off...

To anyone that suffers with any weight or eating problem.. you are the only one that can make it happen.
