I watched a program last night, (rise of the continents, BBC 2). And the bloke said that the alligator's ancestors were the first to have sex as we know it.

if it wasn't for them, women would be laying eggs and guys would be wanking over them.

I'm pretty sure they didn't invent the blowjob though.
