feel so sorry for the bloke...

that was an awkward situation to find out you'd been sacked whilst doing analysis duties for the bbc... and only then to find out because they hand you a statement from the club.....

that could have been handled better..... the most awkward interview ever

I was told he was associated, by the media with being interested with a job vacancy at another club.

He didn't deny it when questioned by his club, then things seemed to get awkward between them and he got suspended pending an internal inquiry.

Ah that makes sense, just been told elsewhere that he might be in line for the newcastle job if Pardew decides to take a walk

This has been going on for couple of weeks now, so since he was suspended, I think he knew it was inevitable

The club statement that appeared on the club's website at 7.18pm stated that Poyet (not representatives) had been informed of his dismissal.

Just been following the debate on the Brighton supporters forum.. North Stand Chat and opinion is divided between a PR lash up by the club and Poyet playing the victim on live tv.

Will await another club statement on this issue as Poyet has stated he will appeal his sacking. This will only be for monetary reasons as the club would not re-employ him as the situation has seemingly reached the untenable stage.

Appears from many sources we have Oscar Garcia waiting to become new manager. He has just guided Maccabi Tel-Aviv to the Israel champions and Champions League football Gordon this season. He resigned from that post at the end of their season.

he said after the game he didn't get any offical notice from brighton till 9.03 via email.... so someone cocked up big time

is do we know it is definately about "poo-gate" or the illicit chats he has been having with mike ashley and him looking for other jobs?

p.s odds on him being the next newcastle manager have gone down to 10/11....

IMO I would take the word of the club over GP.

There's more to it than Poo-gate. Since the beginning of the year GP hadn't been holding press conferences before or after matches. There had appeared to be a shift in attitude from Poyet with the club. Local rumours have pointed to the appointment of Paul Barber as Chief Executive who apparently had something to do with his dismissal from Tottenham Hotspur when both Poyet and Barber were there. Poyet also had an issue with budget which he aired to the press on many occasions. Added to that he was courted by various clubs and apparently spoke with Reading when McDermott was sacked. This was at a critical time in Brighton's season when heading to the play-offs.

After the play-off defeat to Crystal Palace he told players he was 'unlikely to be manager next season' and refused to deal with the released and retained players. That appeared to be the final straw for the board and he and assistant Taricco and first team coach Charlie Oatway were all suspended awaiting the inquiry. Taricco has since been re-instated but is not expected to return for training tomorrow as he is basically Poyet's right arm.

We'll see what tomorrow brings. Never a dull moment being a Brighton fan and come to that Newcastle too. He would do a good job there....him and PdC in the North East lol

We are either destined for a championship winning season or mid table blandness.

On the plus side apparently Sven Goran Ericsson, Steve McLaren, Glenn Hoddle all applied for the job. Thankyou Tony Bloom for not taking that much of a gamble!!

As mentioned won Israel championship this season but was overseeing Barcelona B in first season in managership so not only a proven coach but good contacts for transfers.

They are the favourites at the moment. Just signed Wayne Bridge who was our first choice left back last season and league player of the year at left back.

Countering that Nickey Shorey Readings released left back is training at the Amex and God alone knows what will be lined up by Garcia.

That's a given. We're a bit like Swansea in football ethos but Barca lite I could live with. One thing for sure the football is exciting and we'll average 30k for the coming season.

Vicente is reported to be returning to the Seagulls Chris. Apparently he fell out with Gus and didn't feature since Xmas. Upson is a possibility he is definitely class but wait on what Garcia can bring to the party....
