FabSwingers.com forum: Best places in the UK or Ireland to visit for a week

I came back from Florida a week ago (It was great) and plan on spending a week visiting somewhere either in the UK or Ireland for a relaxing holiday. As such, cities are out of the question. It will most likely be in August.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Wales

Being Welsh I’m a big fan of West Wales., albeit places like Tenby will be busy. North Wales is also very beautiful in parts, but I’m less familiar as only driven through it to get to a holiday destination myself.

Mevagissey in Cornwall is beautiful.

North Wales, Snowdonia area is brilliant if you like breathtaking countryside and outdoor pursuits or if you just like rambling around.

If you just want a flop holiday then places along the north Wales coast or Anglesey are worth looking at.

New Quay in Wales is great for a relaxing getaway but there isn't much to do in the immediate vicinity, so you may need a car to visit local attractions.

The Yorkshire Dales are lovely, spent several holidays there as a kid.

NI Causeway coastline

Inverness - Kessock bridge walk / river ness / sunset at loch ness.

Lots of air shows, classic car shows and outdoor concerts across England in August.

Swanage - Studland beach / steam rail journey with the family to Corfe castle.

Not a fan of asking chatgpt for answers, but you could ask it what your main summertime interests are and budget, and it might recommend a few busy and quiet destinations.

The Welsh marches (border counties) are nice

Depending on what you want

There’s historical cities and towns (Chester, Ludlow, Hereford and Gloucester) & castles, Ironbridge.

There’s forests and rivers, hills and mountains.
