I appreciate this may be a touchy subject to discuss, however I’m quite new here so please feel free to educate me in a nice way.

I see lots of profiles asking for face pics to be attached on your first message yet a high number don’t display face pics themselves. So my question is what’s the etiquette here, do you go with the request or politely explain in the message what you haven’t (although most say they’ll delete without a face pic so is this bit worth it?)

There is no etiquette or protocol other than common sense and prudence.

People can ask for whatever they want on their profiles, even if it comes across as 'one sided'. Most people don't display their "face pics" on their profiles and that's perfectly acceptable.

Would I message someone with a totally blank profile and yield to their demands by attaching a photo of myself? No. I'm not that gullible. Ignore the profile and move on.

I feel I have enough of my face on my profile for people to have an idea that they may or may not find me attractive, yet lots still won't attach a face photo to their message or act like none of my face is on my profile and that I'm therefore unreasonable for asking to see others.

I don't see the point in chatting for a while without sending each other face photos, sharing them at a later date and then realising you're not physically attracted to said person or couple after having spent time messaging. Personality is still very important to me but I need to be attracted to someone in the first instance, and a lot of that will come from the face. I'm particular when it comes to men and I've been disappointed in the past when I've not seen someone's face at the start.

Whilst there's no right or wrong I do think it makes sense to share face photos early on unless both parties are genuinely not bothered about physical appearance. I would never share face photos with anyone else. If someone isn't for me I'll just delete the message.

I do have body dysmorphic disorder relating to my face, though so I do find sharing my full face stressful and I get why people might not want to.

Personally my pics are distinctive but I don't have public face pics, I will send them in private messages and expect the same level of back and forth, there's a difference between discrete people and people hiding something for sure, I don't expect anyone to have public pics that anyone can identify them by, but it's not blind date ha ha

Everyone is different, you do what feels right for you.

I used to video call prior to meets as a picture could be of anyone and vid calls also give you a better vibe/feeling for the person you might or sometimes might not meet.

I probably wouldn’t message a guy back if he didn’t send a pic of his face, I need to see if there’s physical attraction before I send 1 in return hoping for mutual attraction.

Conversation over the internet isn’t enough for me, but I don’t demand pictures, just hopeful I get them.

There's quite a difference between asking for a face pic to be sent privately and displaying their face pic publicly - so to me you're comparing apples to pears.

As others have said, do what you're comfortable with - you'll probably waste a lot more time by delaying the inevitable - so it depends on how much time you've got to waste

I'd say if you're not happy sending a message in a first pic, don't message them at all.

They're allowed to ask for a face pic, it's a good filter for people who receive loads of messages.

Equally, you don't have to send one of you're not comfortable to do so, but don't then message expecting a good outcome if you've ignored want they're asking for.

Attaching a face pic to a private message is very different to having it displayed on your profile.

I have face pics on my profile, but thats my choice.

My only comment is that I find it rude when someone messages you first asking for a face pic...but doesn't include one themselves. Again....just my opinion.

Attaching a face pic is very different to having it on your profile! I think I say it on my profile (can’t remember!) I’m just more likely to open a message if there’s a face attached. I do the same if I message someone looking to chat and maybe meet. However I would never put my face on here, I don’t even do the face pic threads.

My advice is block the profile and move on.

My advice... Do what you want... Send a face pic with a message or don't message... It can be a safety thing if it's a single female, as some guys don't take rejection very well and she wouldn't want him to recognise her somewhere, assuming that's what she has done, so it's better for her to see, decide and go from there, as to whether she sends her face back... But yeah, of you don't want to send a faceless profile a face pic, don't... But don't message them without one and "take a chance" it's really irritating

Far to many fakes on here just searching for someone they may know to gain ammunition to ain gossip browny points locally, chat get along then meet for a social.

We insist on single guys sending us face pics early into messaging, if S isn't attracted to them then there's no point continuing. We send ours after if she's happy.

Different with couples though, it's very hard to find 4 people all finding the others attractive enough to want to play together.

Hey OP, sending a face pic via private message is very different to having one displayed publicly. Ultimately they’re free to request whatever they like on their profile and you’re free to choose whether you contact them. I suppose if you’re the one sending the initial message and want to increase your chances of a reply then you could send a face pic. If they’re attracted to you, then they should send a face pic back. And on it goes

If someone says to attach a face pic in the first message and you're not comfortable with that, then don't message them.

People can have whatever lines and boundaries they want. Other people have the choice to engage within those terms or walk away. Deliberately not adhering to them but messaging anyway isn't good for anyone 💜

We would never send our face pic out to a profile who we’ve not interacted with before. Face pics are sent once we’ve established a bit of a connection.

We might send other pics to entice.

Basically if your profile appeals then the recipient will want to likely respond.

Getting your profile to the best you want it to be is going to get people more interactions.
