Is "Not Looking For Single Guys" A New Trend?

Over there...

Over the past couple of weeks I noticed an increase in profiles that state "not looking for single guys". Some of these profiles are new joiners, but some are older profiles that didnt have this on before, so its a recent addition.

Just now I checked my "look whos near" list, and of the first 15 profiles only 5 accepted messages/winks from single guys. Of the remaining 10 profiles 2 of them had recently changed thier profile to not accepting single guys, I know because I've interracted with them in the past.

This isnt just couples profiles, its single women and single guys.

I dont know if this is all due to the recent media attention, and people are pulling up the drawbridge so to speak to shield themselves. But as an increasing trend, its pushing single guys out of the market.

I can't speak to the intentions of the accounts that state that, but I would guess that some of them list that as a way of screening people.

When you read profile blurb further down, it states something akin to "single men, we will find you".

Then there are those that genuinely don't want to hear from single males entirely.

Each to their own, there are plenty that do communicate with single men.

No, its mainly because they will get bombarded with emails from people who don't read profiles and spam everyone with the same copy and paste messages. They are still looking but if the see someone they like they will message them first.

Some just won't be looking for single guys, ie on my couple acc we're not. It's couples only.

Then others will just what a break from messages maybe, I have tight filters on now, but I sometimes put them at ages 80 - 90.So I don't get men mailing me.

If I put not looking for single men, all I see then is couples and on this profile, they're not what I'm after.

I'm always telling people to block single men and search for themselves, usually when they complain about the type of messages they're receiving from them. I don't think for one second that they're taking notice of me but maybe they've worked it out for themselves

It's simply wording that is shown when someone applies the filter to block incoming mail from men.

Sometimes it means they dont want to meet men. The clue is in the bit that states who they are looking to meet.

Other times it may show at the same time as men being listed in who they're seeking. In which case you can't message them and will have to rely on them making the first move.

So often people stress over not being able to contact others, whether it's based on gender, age, or other preferences that people can actively control via message filters.

Far better to not wonder 'why' people make choices and why you can't approach them, and instead focus on those that you can. Because no amount of questioning on your part is ever likely to change their minds. 🤷‍♂️

This is something we are thinking of doing and it's not because we aren't interested , it's just the amount of low effort ,overly sexual opening messages or they just do not respect we are a couple is just getting a bit tiresome to be honest.

It's a shame because we know there are some genuinely decent guys on here but it may just be easier for us to find them than have to deal with all we have mentioned.

Sometimes its just a polite way of suggesting you dont contact them.

Its quite common where the said profiles would rather reach out to you that the other way around. Another common reason why people add message filters, so they have control.

Personally, as a single male, I’m in favour of people using their filters.

People who complain about getting hundreds of emails, aren’t going to be reading each one carefully.

So if someone messages me first, it’s going to be a better dialogue.

Ours doesn't say "not looking for single guys," but does say "not looking to meet outside of clubs." Guess who still messages us asking for socials and meets? Yep, single guys....

We don't block them though as happy to meet single guys at a club/spa, but they must be able to read our profile which says do not send one liners, but that is still the majority of the 'messages' we receive. We laugh and delete.

Lots of members just don't want the admin involved with the majority of messages from single guys, who can blame them.

There are also a significant number of couples who like the couple swap dynamic only. That's their perfectly acceptable preference.

I don’t have ‘not looking for single guys’ on my profile (even though it’s only a very specific type of single guy I would even consider) but just from the messages I get from single guys, I can understand why a lot of women and couples don’t want to meet them.

The wanking dead are a plague on here, and yes I know it’s #NotAllGuys but it’s more than enough. Just from talking to women on here the incredible entitlement, lack of effort, and unattractive neediness, that single men exhibit is bound to be a massive turn off.

I would add, far too many men on here think they are gods gift, you must sleep with them because they are special and you'll be missing out if you don't, going by the amount of guys like this who contact me as a gay man, I can only imagine, women and MF couples get it 100 fold.

Like others say many just won’t be wanting single guys right now. That could be a constant for some…an evolving want for others.

It is also a great way for those that receive crazy amounts of messages to reduce the noise…they can still message single men that take their interest.

I have always said I think fab is a much easier experience for single guys….we don’t have to deal with any of the nonsense really. And instead just have to put a little effort into catching my the attention of those we people that catch ours.

So I imagine blocking single guys would give a single woman an experience more similar to the chilled experience of a single guy here?

i only meet guys via fab as i find women easy to meet elsewhere and couples are mostly male led plus at least half of all couples and womens profiles are jusut single men..

so as said i meet guys only so trfuse to block all as its so easy just to use the block button individually yes my block list is in its 1000s ...i only use fab for meets so i block anyone im not interested in and all those who dreamers gooners porn obsessed wankers just block daily ...

the only gripe i have with blocking is alot just open a bew profile but i guess they are easyt to sess

I am not inundated with messages as I use the filters to stop most. It means I can quickly delete the ones I receive that I am not interested in. Occasionally I don't want any messages so I either hide my profile or click the no men filter.

So look at profile . Age distance etc seem to match .

Then read bio . Normally in last paragraph. The wording

Males must be between xx-xx . Very different from my criteria. Then if play males must be bi , bisexual . Says straight for both in part of male, female description. If not in this last areas. Messages deleted ? Why

I've heard from fab friends that its their way of seeing who's looked then taking their time to choose without the hassle of a full inbox, it's also more positive when you get messaged from a couple not looking for single guys because you know they are interested without you begging them to engage.
