"Depends on the tent but always loose peg the corners first to stop it blowing away. Then usually fit poles and get the tent up- then pull those corners tight. Go round and loose fit the other pegs to check they all go in, pulling the tent to shape- then go round and recheck every peg point is taut and pulled in the right direction to keep the tent tight in all directions- knock them in if they are " Hope you're reading Hun I'll direct from afar.

Also check tent bag - it may have specific instructions. Do not start on the cider before you have a successful erection.

"Hopefully it is not one of those self erecting tents that comes as a flat round bag of canvas and springy poles. You release it and 'Pop' you have a tent. That is great but then you can never fold the damn thing back up to get it back in the bag and then have it stored half in the bag and half out. " Easy- just fold dot a to dot b with a twist

"For putting a tent up? I'm helping evie put a tent up tomorrow. Not my strongest point. But there if cider in her garage so I might take a directing role. " Watch 'Carry on Camping' and do the opposite of what Sid does. Evie can be 'Babs'.

"Assemble the poles and lay them out. Some will be longer than the others, and they may be colour coded. Thread them through their corresponding sleeves. Push them through, don't pull. I believe her tent is a ring and pull job. Once the poles have been threaded through the sleeves, push the pin into one end of the pole at a time. The strap tensioners should help to bend the poles to the correct curvatures to shape the tent. Guy the poles and secure the tent. Job done. Enjoy your trip! " Excellent reply sounds just like my tent ,in such a case peg down just one side first as it is very windy
