Won't meet smokers....

Why not?

I gave up smoking in Feb and the staying stopped is rather hard . I'm just wanting to know why you won't meet smokers and be as frank and honest as you can be. This is really a motivational thread for me .

PS I am sooooooooo not a "reformed anti smoker"... I love smoking and I always have done.... just can't afford

It is pretty gross, I can understand why women/peope wouldn't want to meet smokers.

I stopped smoking 3 years ago and only this week a health issue that smokers give me problems, so do cars.

If you want to keep off them smell a smoker.......................

The smell I should imagine is the biggest thing. Maybe worried you will light up in their house? Well done you for giving up, just keep telling yourself how much money you are saving and that you are no mug paying that much for an addiction x

I'm a smoker & was with a guy who doesn't smoke. Smoking is not a problem.

If meeting a non-smoker, I always clean my teeth & always carry breath spray or mints so as not to have bad breath.

My pet hate is bad breath. x

It's the kissing thing for me. As someone who has never smoked kissing a smoker is not pleasant. But I'd be as strict with any stinky breath.

And mints and chewing gum don't cover it...

Smoking overall grosses me out. I hate the smell and have seen a relative die as a result of smoking. I don't meet smokers for these reasons.

It's the smell and if you kiss them, the taste lingers. We don't meet smokers and in clubs if I smell cigarette breath I'll not play

I love a ciggie. I'm a considerate smoker, especially round non-smokers but if its a deal breaker for some that's entirely their choice. There are loads of fag ash Lils that I can hang out with.

Having been a non smoker (briefly) I can understand why people won't meet smokers, probably because we smell rank.

We both smoke and block people who messages us with "Won't meet smokers" on there profile (telling them why of cause)

I see it as, if someone's preference is to not meet smokers then I respect that and wouldn't want them to have to make do and meet us

As a non smoker I can still taste it on someone even after they've brushed their teeth. You can taste it on their lips, tongue, and can smell it in their hair, skin and clothes

The profile option is also a little black and white.

You could say you are a smoker but only smoke a handful a day, but the person reading doesn't know you don't smoke 60 a day.

Although, I doubt this actually matters to those who don't meet smokers.

I met one guy and was in his car and there was ash all round the window frame, ashtray over flowing but he didn't smoke.

Can't stand the smell off the clothes, the hair, fingers, everywhere. I can tell believe me, my mum used to smoke in the house when I was younger and I could tell when she had been in hoovering my bedroom when I'd been at school.

As with everything - it's a preference - and if my smoking prevents meets then so be it!!

I've even added a note on the couples profile to highlight the fact that the hotel we usually use still has smoking rooms to be as transparent as possible!

Hasn't stopped those with 'wont meet smokers' from asking to meet - it must be the lure of the boobs!!

*and I don't mean mine!!

I do state that if you have 'Won't meet smokers' on your profile, I will delete your message. I then get, "oh I don't mind, I'm actually a social smoker" or even better "I have a smoking fetish!"

It's not a deal breaker for me.

I don't smoke, never cigarettes, an occasional cigar ....

But kissing a heavy smoker is like licking an ash tray

Most smokers are considerate enough to brush teeth etc. but I can still tell ....

Ex-smoker here.

All the breath freshener, body spray, teeth brushing, short term abstinence, showering, deodorant and perfume will not take the smell away.

I remember the first time I was in a lift with a smoker after I finally gave up. I clearly remember thinking why on earth did I spend one single penny on perfume if I smelled that bad.

A few of my colleagues do and they try to cover it up with spray. The result is vile.

My job involves handling case notes and I can tell if the owners of them smoke in a nanosecond.

I have won't meet smokers on my profile. Because I'd really prefer not to. But there is always the odd exception to the rule the same as my age range preferences etc.

I still get messages from smokers so I don't think it deters anyone tbh, or like everything else they just didn't read it x

I stopped a couple of months ago but even when I did smoke I very rarely met smokers,not for any other reason than it seems that less people smoke now,im not completely averse to meeting them now as most enviroments are no smoking anyway

I have noticed that my sense of smell has come back with a vengeance,but im not going to get all ex smokerish about it as I know its still early days for me in regards to stopping

Well its down to preference....smokers should not be berated for smoking...Its a choice....A bit like meeting an fat person,tall skinny.. while i know its a put off to some...i understand its my habit one i pay to have...What I can't stand is the stick that people get if it ain't the norm....

Im a non-smoker. I wont meet smokers but I did meet one guy who I didnt know was a smoker till he told me. He didnt smell of smoke, he smelt rather lush actually and is one reason I wont, cant go home smelling of it myself.

Ill meet considerate smokers, as the odd ciggie now and again doesn't bother me, but i wouldnt meet someone who needs to chain smoke throughout the evening.
