I think there are some ideas in porn that you can take into the bedroom and see if it's for you or not. I think as long as that porn style of sex isn't the expectation every time, you can have a balance between the two depending on what the other person likes and they don't have to be deal breakers.

Much modern porn is crap but some channels have very sensous and arty porn. It's just a question of finding them. And it doesn't mean that the sex can't be passionate and rough when required! A lot of the American stuff is fake, aggressive and shit. The better stuff tends to be European.

I think you can tell if a sexual partner has learned about sex by doing it vs someone who learned via porn. Not always, but often.

My most disappointing experiences have been with men who seemed to want to recreate porn-style sex. Little sensuality, pounding away, throwing me around in order to fit in as many positions as possible before climax, not reading me or taking the time to learn my body. Asking them to ease up and slow down being met with bemusement. Visual performance and style over sensation and shared experience. I presume there are women who are similarly invested in putting on a show over focussing on physical sensation.

I think this sums up a lot about how I feel about porn.

I would just add that in my opinion porn is a slippery slope like any enjoyable habit.

The range of porn out there is huge so they're needs to be more emphasis or education on how to navigate what you see as your own expectations Vs reality.

I can imagine a lot of people out there found it they were into something from watching porn then trying it out, and much more the opposite where you say, that's awful I'm not trying that.

So it's a gate way for some and think it has it's place. Just really difficult to put the more extreme stuff back in and let people find it slower.

Having been involved in shooting porn in the US about 25 years ago, when online digital porn was exploding, I also know a little too well what the reality of a shoot can be like. It was awkward, clinical, and at times genuinely unpleasant, especially with people hanging around who werent part of the production, just watching. Very creepy people. And being barked instructions constantly. Stop, start, do this, do that... It's probably a lot better these days I guess.

One thing I will give to the uk government is the age restriction on porn now, annoying for me because I don’t want to have to provide ID to watch porn but it’s good as it’ll curb the younger audience from being able to watch it too soon

I find with the porn issue a similar lack of getting to grips with history, context and circumstances, as there is with other topical issues.

The religious and status quo zealots have prevented sensible conversation about sex, affection, sexual health, gender, gay rights, and reproductive rights for over a two thousand years. In only the last 80 years we started to move in a sensible direction but currently the progress made is being rolled back.

Porn shows women in control of their sexuality, gay sex, trans sex, interracial sex and kink sex, although in its own stereotyped fashion. None of the areas mentioned are part of the conversation on family values, but these areas affect a significant part of the population.

It is always easier to point at the youth and say they have a problem, but it is clear from threads on the forum, and social history that adults of all ages have from time behaved inappropriately.

This is because religious and cultural values that form cultural stereotypes have been permitted to be forced on children over the last 1000 years has created and reinforced problematical approach to sex.

My view is that it's society's refusal to discuss sex sensibly which is the issue and not porn.
