Having read the thread on how many years without sex, I'd love to know what intimacy looks like or means to you. Do you believe you can be intimate with a stranger on fab or is it something you can only experience with someone you love.

I used to believe in the latter. Now I'm into the former.

There are so many different types of intimacy. For me, in a relationship, it would be hugging and kissing every day. I need physical intimacy. Sex is the bonus depending on work/life schedules aligning, free time, no distractions etc. and at least once a week in this hectic lifestyle. Or more if we could plan it.

With a stranger it's more of a short term thing I guess but I would still want to kiss a lot.

I don't need to be in love with someone to share intimacy. Intimacy can come in many forms. You can have intimate moments with platonic friends and family members. You can have intimacy with lovers who you are not in a relationship with. I probably wouldn't feel intimate with a total stranger though.

I don't need to have strong feelings for someone to be intimate.

I share a lot of intimacy with someone and have shared intimate moments with people ive only met for a brief time.

Intimacy for me is feeling comfortable to enjoy some one on one time with someone kissing talking sex it is all part of intamacy for me.

I agree with the other forumites, intimacy has many forms. The type of intimacy I experience with my husband is not the same as what I experience with others we meet. Sex is sex the act itself isnt always intimate for me, but sex with my husband is always extremely intimate if that makes sense.

I'm one of those who went a full decade from age 40 to 50 without sex or any form of intimacy at all.

I think it's possible to be intimate without being in love but the best way I can describe what intimacy means to me is that I have a very good friend that I trust with me in my entirety and she with me.

We can be completely raw and naked with each other while fully dressed.

I think what varies level of intimacy.

Like you can be massively excited and into someone initially but until you've had that first time, you don't know how its going to feel.

As things progress if it becomes more than a one off the level of intimacy can increase.

Feelings can happen.

The most important thing with swinging is communication. If you struggle to talk about things, it's not going to be an easy journey.

Yes 'you' can. Or at least, I can.

On Fab I don't aspire for a spousal arrangement or anything that resembles a form of 'relationship' born from love.

The 'casual romances' that I experience on here are based upon deeply rooted feelings and mental connections that are unique with that person: such things which have accrued over many weeks and months when I'm first chatting to someone. Those things are then reinforced when I meet them for the first time. In this way the intimacy/sex, for me, doesn't feel transactional, synthetic or mechanical.

there are different types of intimacy. Basking in a loved ones presence while you both do different things and simply being able to look and see they are there to lightly itching /scratching backs and having a sweet embrace.

I can fuck without love but a loving intimate sexual experience is not something I would expect from this site.
