Batshit - why is that crazy?

Badass - why is that daring and rebellious?

Sick - why is that good?

And who decides?!

Feel free to share other examples and your thoughts on this topic. It’s a puzzling philosophical debate that can only be solved by the great minds of the collective fab forum.

Somewhere In The Ether…

One which was brought up on here yesterday: ‘Bare’ denoting a (large?) quantity of something.

What on earth was the inception for this?

Answers please….? 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Bare has been used by the afro Carabian community for yrs , a lot of slang words come from them , they invent words to hide what there talking about ( kinda a secret language)

The fact it's spilled over into our language is down to is picking up there slang

When I worked over Nasau it was a completely different English language lol , but I still find in funny when Caucasian males try to do it lol

So I guess that’s a little bit like jive or cockney rhyming slang

"Extraordinary

It has both meanings but the work extra in Latin mean outside or out with giving it it’s negative connotations x

Hove, mainly…

I think it’s the Oxford dictionary people who decide whether a word gets in there. I applied years ago with the word ‘remail’ meaning the email that answers an email but they told me (by remail) that a word has to be in ‘common usage’ before it can be considered.
