We are thinking of going to Cap this year. So we’d like to hear your take on it from the people who’ve actually been there.

Tell us your stories, your favourite places, where is good to stay. Do you get a package deal or book flights and accommodation separately?

We heard the cinema is a good place.

Having never been, some of the stories we’ve been told just sound made up.

Sunbathing round a pool whilst people are having sex on sun loungers next to you.

Bukkakes and gangbangs on the beach.

Is this true?

It’s all true - I’ve a female friend who got so covered in cum on the beach (she encouraged over 20 men to wank over her) that she caused a cum-slick in the sea when she went to wash it all off. The foam parties are legendary.

Guide to Cap d’Agde Village Naturiste: Paradise for Naturists and Swingers.

Cap d’Agde, located on the Mediterranean coast in the south of France (Occitanie region, near Agde and Béziers), is home to the largest naturist village in the world. Often described as the “Naked City,” it is a completely self-sufficient enclave where clothing is optional, and in practice usually absent. The village stretches over a large area with direct access to a more than 2-kilometer-long sandy beach, a marina, apartment complexes, hotels, campsites, and numerous facilities. It is built like a real small town within a fenced area, with its own entrance and rules that place naturism at the center.

The village originated in the 1960s-1970s as part of the tourist development of the Languedoc coast. What began as a simple naturist campsite grew into an internationally known destination for those who want to live in harmony with nature: sunbathing, swimming, and socializing without shame. Respect for others and for the naturist ethos is paramount. At the same time, Cap d’Agde has built a strong reputation over the past decades as a meeting place for swingers and libertines. Estimates vary, but it is often said that a significant portion of visitors (sometimes more than half during peak season) are open to or actively seeking libertine experiences. This makes the village unique: it is primarily a naturist resort for families, couples, and singles who purely enjoy nudity and freedom, but it also has a vibrant, adult-oriented nightlife with clubs, foam parties, and meeting spots where the atmosphere becomes more explicit and swinger-friendly. During the day it is relaxed and naturist; in the evening, part of the village transforms into a lively, open-minded scene.

Who is it suitable for?

Cap d’Agde is ideal for anyone who embraces naturism as a lifestyle: walking naked down the street, doing grocery shopping, eating in a restaurant, or simply relaxing on the beach, all without clothes. It is family-friendly in many areas, but the swinger aspects also make it attractive for couples who are more adventurous. Singles (especially men) visit as well, but the scene is mainly geared toward couples. Important: the village is not for voyeurs or people who only come to watch. Respect and consent are crucial.

A frequently asked question is whether you must be a swinger to participate in the typical parties where swingers are present. The answer is NO. You absolutely do not need to be a swinger to attend the well-known foam parties, pool parties, or evening events. Many visitors come purely for the unique, libertine atmosphere, the music, the dancing, and the special experience – without actively participating in swapping or other activities themselves. Everyone is treated with great respect and left in peace. The principle “NO means NO” applies absolutely here: boundaries are respected, and unwanted advances are not tolerated. The community is generally open-minded, friendly, and discreet, so both pure naturists and curious couples can feel comfortable.

Safety in the village

Especially during the evening hours, there is a strong presence of police and security personnel (gendarmerie, municipal police, and private security). Patrols on foot, by bicycle (VTT), on horseback, or with vehicles ensure that everything runs smoothly. There is video surveillance, controlled access, and close cooperation with local authorities. This creates a strong sense of safety, both during the day and at night. Many guests report feeling safer here than in many other tourist areas. Incidents are dealt with quickly, and the focus is on protecting peace and respect for all visitors.

How to book a stay in Cap d’Agde Village Naturiste.

Access to the naturist village is regulated. Upon arrival, you register at the welcome office (Bureau d’Accueil) to complete the access papers. The village is fenced and not freely accessible to textile tourists without reason.

Accommodation options are diverse:

- Apartments and studios in complexes such as Heliopolis, Port Nature, Port Ambonne, or Port Vénus.

- Hotels (e.g., Hôtel Eve or luxury options).

- Campsites (such as the 4-star Centre Naturiste René Oltra).

- Villas or guesthouses.

You can book through major platforms like Booking.com (search for “Village Naturiste Cap d’Agde”), official residence websites, or specialized naturist rental agencies. A popular and often cheaper way is through keyholders - local owners or concierges who rent apartments directly. They often offer lower prices than the big booking sites because no commission goes to the platforms.

A good example of this is 'Les Clés de Stella', a concierge service in Cap d’Agde that specializes in careful rental of apartments (often in complexes like Jardin de Babylone or Heliopolis). Through their website (lesclesdestella.lodgify.com ) or by contacting them, you can book directly, with personal key handover, advice, and extra services.

Keyholders like them work locally, know the village inside out, and often provide attractive rates for short or long stays, ideal if you want flexibility or are looking for a specific apartment with a terrace, sea view, or proximity to the nightlife.

Another useful resource is the website

Cap&You (via www.capnatu.com ). Cap&You functions as a kind of local guide and community hub: it provides information on events, soirées, merchants, bars, and restaurants. It is the place to find up-to-date information about what is happening in the village, including libertine meetings or theme nights. Through their network or social media (such as Instagram @capyou34), you can also get tips for accommodation and activities.

Book well in advance for July/August. For swinger-oriented stays, certain residences (such as Jardin d’Eden or Jardin de Babylone) are more popular with couples.

What to do in Cap d’Agde Village Naturiste: extensive overview

The village is so complete that you can stay for weeks without leaving. Here is a look at the possibilities:

Beach and sea

The highlight is the more than 2 km long naturist beach with fine sand, directly adjacent to the village. You can walk there naked from your accommodation. There are beach bars, sun loungers, and parasols for hire. During the day it is relaxed: sunbathing, swimming, beach volleyball, or simply strolling. In the northern part, the atmosphere can become more explicit, with more swinger activity – but always with respect. Note: there is sometimes criticism about a lack of supervision, which allows textile voyeurs to enter from adjacent beaches. The marina offers opportunities for boat rental, sailing, or simply enjoying the view.

The Baie des Cochons (Pig Bay) at Cap d’Agde Village Naturiste.

The Baie des Cochons (officially called La Baie des Cochons, also known as Pig Bay or Varkensbaai) is the most famous and most libertine section of the naturist beach in Cap d’Agde Village Naturiste.

This northern stretch of the beach, located near Heliopolis and Port Ambonne, is known as the spot where the atmosphere is explicit and very swinger-friendly. During the day, open sexual activities, exhibitionism, and partner swapping often take place here, in contrast to the rest of the 2 km naturist beach which remains mostly relaxed and family-oriented.

The Baie des Cochons mainly attracts adventurous couples and libertines. It is a place of freedom and open-mindedness, but it is also an area where many single men circulate as spectators. Respect for boundaries remains essential: “no means no” applies here absolutely.

It is not a place for families or pure naturists looking for peace and quiet, they prefer to stay in the central or southern part of the beach. In short, the Baie des Cochons is the iconic “playground” of Cap d’Agde for those seeking a hot and uninhibited beach experience.

Sports and wellness

Swimming pools in many residences, plus public options.

- Fitness, yoga, or group classes (sometimes naked).

- Water sports: paddleboarding, kayaking, jet skiing (outside the village or through rental).

- Walking and cycling in the surrounding area (Canal du Midi, vineyards, historical routes).

- Saunas and wellness centers (there are naturist saunas in or near the village).

- Golf nearby (textile, but popular with visitors).

Nightlife and entertainment

Quiet during the day, lively in the evening. Bars, ice cream parlors, karaoke, and restaurants line the promenade in Port Nature or Heliopolis. Well-known clubs such as 'Le Glamour' (with beach club and foam parties) attract a mixed crowd. Foam parties are legendary: dancing in a sea of foam, often with a libertine twist. For swingers, there are specific evenings, playrooms, or clubs (such as in Port Ambonne). The nightlife ranges from relaxed aperitifs to wild theme nights. Many places have a dress code that varies from fully naked to sexy outfits (lingerie, fetish, etc.). Here too: you decide your own level of participation, and respect for boundaries is paramount.

Culture and excursions

Inside the village: shopping, people-watching, events.

Outside: visit the old town of Agde (the “Black Pearl”), Pézenas (a historic town with markets), or the Etang de Thau for oysters. Walking routes along the coast or in the hinterland. Museums such as the Musée de l’Éphèbe.

Events

In peak season: theme parties, sports tournaments, live music. Cap&You and local sites keep you informed about soirées and meetings.

Supermarkets, shops, and daily needs

The village is completely self-sufficient, you hardly need to leave for groceries:

Supermarkets: Vival (Port Nature, wide range: vegetables, fruit, meat, wine, toiletries), SPAR or Coccinelle (Heliopolis), smaller mini-markets. Prices are reasonable to slightly higher than outside (e.g., milk around €2/liter), but convenient. For larger shopping: drive to Hyper U or Intermarché in Agde (10–15 minutes by car), cheaper for longer stays.

Fresh produce: Bakery (bread, croissants), butcher, fishmonger, vegetable stalls, wine shop.

Other shops: Clothing (sometimes sexy or naturist-friendly), souvenirs, newspapers, pharmacy, post office, bank/ATMs, launderette, hairdresser, beauty salon.

- Everything is within walking distance. Doing your shopping naked is precisely part of the fun!

Restaurants and dining

There is something for every budget and taste:

- Snack bars and pizzerias for quick bites.

- Grill restaurants, seafood restaurants, French, orientale...

- Popular spots: Chez Maxime (Port Ambonne), Gepetto, Cow Girl Le Ghymnos, Le Bistrot, L'horizon, le fou du roi...to.many to write down etc... www.capnatu.com

- Price level: meal €10–€25, glass of wine €8–11 per liter in affordable places. Many spots have terraces where you can sit naked.

- For self-catering: fresh ingredients from the shops. There are also traiteurs (delicatessens) and ice cream shops.

The offering is varied: from simple to gastronomic, with plenty of seafood thanks to the location.

Practical tips

Season: Peak season May-September; quieter outside that period.

Rules: Nudity is mandatory or strongly recommended in the village (except sometimes in the evening in certain clubs).

No photos without permission. Respect boundaries.

Access: A car is recommended for excursions, but everything inside the village is accessible on foot.

For swingers or the curious: Research specific clubs or residences via Cap&You or specialized guides. Safe sex and consent are essential.

-Budget: Accommodation and food are affordable compared to other resorts; keyholders will help you save money.
