Do any of you click on profiles ( either through verifications or through the forums ) and find out you've been blocked?

I understand occasionally people will block you if their message to you gets deleted, but in these cases I don't think that happened.

It's happened with someone on here and I dont understand what I've done wrong.

I'm not an unkind or unpleasant person. Unless I've been rude I just don't understand it.

I was hoping to go to one of the socials in the future, but I worry that some8me has said something to the person who blocked me and as a result I won't be welcome at the socials.

Please don't judge people you don't know. I'm neurodivergent and life is hard enough as it is without being ostracised here.

I'm a serial blocker. But it's more as a tool to avoid messaging someone rather than anything specific. So I wouldn't worry about it.

All the time, it just shows we were incompatible.

I'm also quite active myself at blocking those that don't wish to meet married (with consent) men or that with different preferences.

Saves me repeatedly clicking on their profile.

Op i saw your other thread about worrying if people would like you or ostracize you from a social. People block people for lots of reasons on here and i really dont think people are that powerful to determine a whole club of peoples opinions on you.

I really hope you can not let things like that affect you as much on here.

Focus on people who havnt blocked you i would say.

I've stumbled across accounts I don't recall interacting with that have me blocked.

If it has to happen I prefer it that way, I'd be absolutely devastated if I had gotten to know someone quite well then got a block.

Just have to accept peoples decision and move on 🤷🏻‍♂️

People block for all sorts of reasons. I block people who may specifically state I am not for them, e.g. they want BBC only, even though the other factors (gender, age etc match) and I block so they don’t continue to come up in search results etc.

Hello Eliza ,

You can't possibly know why that person blocked you. There could be any number of reasons and none to do with you and yet you chose to immediately think there is something wrong with you and that everyone is going to conspire against you and you are not going to go to socials as a result.

All I want to point out about the above is that THAT is all YOUR doing. Like many things in life it's in your head and no one else's. ( I said that positively it's not an attack on you )

Reasons for blocking(just some of them )

1. They don't feel like chatting ( imagine someone else having feelings - weird yeah ? )

2. They are chatting heavily with someone else right now so they are limiting communications with others.

3. They block anyone who is outside their age range it's not personal.

4. They simply decided they are not going to meet and so blocked anyone from asking.

Reasons are as unique as they are and to be fair - it's about them and what they want.

Look outward to the people who don't have you blocked and think about what they need/want etc....

I don't give those that have me blocked a seconds thought

We constantly ask people to block us, it's hilarious some of the replies from asking people to block you.

It saves them wasting their and our time sending future messages.

We don't block many unless they become persistent pains and don't take a friendly no thanks.

Don't worry about socials, you will have a great time and just remember everyone there has made an effort to attend, you are in very good company as FAB seems to more and more attract a chatterer who has no intention to meet.

Have a great time at any meets.

Socials also mean you won't be stuck with one person.

Try to mingle, well worth it.

See it as a positive - they’ve already decided they don’t want to interact with you so it’s saved you time.

We see it as we are too awesome for some and they’ve decided our awesomeness is too much to cope with

OP, I block people for all sorts of reasons. Things that are said in the Forum, preferences expressed on their profile, status updates, random things. I have been blocked by people who I got on with in previous sojourns on Fab, and people who I've had no interactions with - it happens. Don't dwell on it. It can be quite random.

(BTW I remember you from when you were on here years ago).

Yep, I've noticed I've been blocked by a couple or solo account. Sometimes I've never even viewed them before so maybe they saw my profile in ninja mode and didn't like it, so they decided to block. Message received. It happens. I'm not offended.

If it's a massively cliquey social you wouldn't be invited anyway, if one of them didn't want you there.

I wouldn't worry about such things, OP. I find myself blocked by forum people whom I've never interacted with before, in any shape or form.

Most of the time I know why they've blocked me because of really petty things. For example, there was a thread where I answered that I liked a particular flavour of ice cream but it turned out that the OP was only looking for vanilla responses to align with his.

For what it's worth I'm blocked by 15% of the people on this thread.

Oh, okay I didn't realise this was a common occurrence. If it happens a lot it might make the sociala more awkward! I know not everyone attends them though.

Thank you for the insight.

I feel like I'm a bit reserved in big group settings so it would probably make me feel worse if I knew someone who had blocked me was attending. I think I'll just not nosey at profiles from now on so I don't know either way.

Hopefully I won't be banned from attending any local socials as I'm limited as to where I can travel to.

Thanks for the info.

In our experience the people who attend are just as nervous as everyone else, but they are a great bunch.

I (happily) attend many socials and most of the time those reprobates have ostracised themselves by the organisers. In any case it's reasonable to assume that everyone is going to be blocked by at least one person at such events.

The p+sitives of a social far outweighs any negative aspects. 🩶

We block those who come up on searches or updates that we know we won't meet up with, it just saves seeing them time & time again. We've clicked on profiles to find we've been blocked too, most likely for the same reason we think so we don'ttake it personally- it's no big deal so please don't worry about it.

I wouldn’t worry too much about blocks. There are many reasons why people block others. I’m sure I’m blocked by many and annoy many more. I haven’t been to many socials but the ones I have been to, the people are always warm and welcoming. Don’t let blocks influence you attending socials.

Carlisle usually

I do block people for being assholes in messages, but that's far from the only reason to do it.

Recognise someone local that I don't want to connect with that way? Block to avoid the awkwardness. Comes up regularly in searches because they meet the defined criteria but definitely aren't for me? Block so that my active searches are more efficient. Flashes up in local updates all the time or even just rarely with content that I don't want to see? Block so that my updates feed is a more pleasant place to be.

It doesn't mean I've decided they're a bad person or they've done something wrong, I've just decided that we're not compatible and blocking them means neither of us wastes the other's time or energy 💜

I do come across this every so often and I assume that they either don't like Trans and so block lest we pollute their profile by stumbling into it, or they don't like my look.

Either way, there's no point being overly put out by it and if we're not compatible, then it saves time.

I block a fair few people in here whose profiles or expressed views I find naff

Hey OP

A lot of previous posters comments make a lot of sense, you can’t control other people’s actions so you should try not to be affected by them ( I know easier said than done sometimes) Focus on what you can control.

My approach is not to care if it’s some random person I’ve never interacted with. However if I’m honest it would bother me if one of the folks I regularly interact with blocked me with no explanation. My brain would immediately go into “ what did you fuck up this time” mode.

A few people have me blocked on here. I don't think too much of it other than they don't like me for whatever reason and that's fine.

I understand with you being neurodivergant having that mindset will be difficult, but try to focus on the people who interact with you instead.

I can't see why someone blocking you will be a barrier to attending socials unless it was the organiser, maybe.
