Has anyone else had messages about meeting and swapping phone numbers, chatting a for a short while then a hotel room has been booked for you to meet in. Is this a common place con happening, never happened to me but now twice in as many months. Anyone else had this happen

No.

Because we'd never book a hotel for a meet that we weren't going to book for our own use anyway.

We'd also never contemplate arranging a hotel meet with someone we hadn't physically met.

I chatted with a lady, supposedly local, and she randomly supposedly has booked a hotel to meet up in and then saying she has booked time off work and paid for the hotel. Nothing was arranged, I said we should try arrange to meet then I am being told I am a time waster as she has booked the hotel 50 miles away

So you've actually lost nothing?

How is this a con?

"She is asking for the money for the hotel"

So you say no.

You've still lost nothing. 🤷‍♂️

I have but I wondered if it was something that was happening to a lot of members, it’s a question and a warning for others

Manchester (she/her)

So she did something without asking you first and now wants money?

That's a pretty weak con. Block and report, and don't worry about it.
