Love seafood. Also I seem to pretty good at it, to the point where I was able to make a certain shellfish edible, to the amazement of my fishmonger.

Some seafood.

I enjoy most fish, prawns, crab, lobster, langoustines, squid, octopus. Not a fan of things like muscles, oysters, razor clams, cockles etc 🤢

They're welcome to disagree. Fish I can buy in the UK - which is not just Manchester - is bland and expensive compared to other parts of the world. (I'm mostly thinking of Australia, but I recently went to Portugal - them too).

I still eat it, it's good for me, but it's disappointing.

"I don’t go over seas"

Ok. Imagine seafood with 70% better texture and flavour than the UK. That's standard in other parts of the world.

And I don't know about all parts of the world, but in Australia (which has a high standard of seafood - my family are there, which it's why my comparison), it's about half the price. And 70% better.

I love seafood and we have a good variety here for the chefs but not necessarily for Joe Public. I just wish it was better value for money here. Lobster, Crayfish, Langoustines, Bream, etc. I have no appetite for Xenophobic seafood. Especially the spineless variety.

I very rarely eat meat, so fish tends to be a go to

That said I only like certain fish: tuna steaks, cod fillets, salmon fillets, lemon sole, swordfish

Things like coley and pollock my Grandma used to give to the cat and I struggle to get past that

I can't stomach haddock and I am not a great fan of scallops, king prawns, lobster, crab or crayfish and the like

So, yes I like some seafood, just not all of it

lobster is just maxi-prawn. Its taste is entirely dependent upon how much butter you can slather on it.

Next time you have decent quality tuna make a marinade of 2 parts dark soy, 1 part mirin and add a sprinkle of chilli flakes. Soak the tuna in it for 20 mins (turning over once), then griddle for 15 seconds on each side in a really hot pan

Lidl do a frozen pack of 4 tuna steaks

IIRC it's £3.99 a pack

As you say, fresh tuna steaks are really expensive

I love seafood. Fresh is best. If you can go somewhere close to the coast and eat the day's catch, that would be best.

If not, the local chippy is a decent place.

Lobster tastes like chicken, texture wise, IMO. I was given a nut cracker-type device to break the lobster apart to get to the good bits. Definitely a lot of effort. I'd rather have it prepared. Overhyped.
