Quitting the West Midlands

Over the next twelve months i plan on selling my house and having a fresh start somewhere new, I have had enough of the West Midlands, it's an overcrowded concrete jungle that doesn't feel safe. Stuff like my car keep getting vandalised doesn't help either. I would love to hear anyone's suggestions on where to go and what to do. I am seriously considering maybe quitting the UK entirely. I prefer the countryside and a slower pace of life, can't stand inner cities and people rushing around all of the time x

I'm sorry to hear that. I live on the outskirts of Cannock Chase & love it. Not overcrowded, enough countryside to feel "rural" & the locals are friendly

I moved up from the south east 16 years ago & have no intention of moving back now Still haven't picked up the accent luckily 😅😅

I don't think there are any other countries out there that offer a much better quality of life. Maybe the Nordics?

Shit as some things may be here, I believe there is hope.

There are so many places that offer quiet and quality, they tend to be expensive, like in the Cotswolds. Maybe Scotland?

Have you been everywhere in the West Mids? I'm outside of Worcester and it's pretty quiet here. Malvern hills also?

There's plenty of countryside to choose from.

But be prepared for scarce public services, pothole filled country roads, non existent public transport, hour long round trips to the nearest supermarket, roadworks causing huge diversions, less scope for job moves, potentially more expensive housing.....

Living in the sticks isn't all a bed of roses.

There'll be more grass (yes, that bit is greener) but a whole load of alternative headaches to deal with on the daily. 🤷‍♂️
